Elements of Destruction & Sea Life Safari to XBLA this Wed

Microsoft has just announced that we’re in for another Xbox Live Arcade twosome this Wednesday, with new original Arcade titles Elements of Destruction and Sea Life Safari set to release for 800 Microsoft Points.

Coming from the lads that brought us the not-so-brilliant Screwjumper!, Elements of Destruction is one of those titles that steps out of the box to bring something new to the Arcade table. Entrusting you with the almighty power of controlling nature, the game sees the player create natural catastrophes such as tornadoes and earthquakes to get back at the corporation that fired you.

Features

  • Forces of nature: Use your power to create lightning, tornadoes, earthquakes and many other forces of nature to exact revenge.
  • Complete destruction: Blow buildings apart, start raging fires, and blast with lightning as you cause mayhem in towns, cities, and the countryside.
  • Multiplayer matches: Compete in two online and split screen multiplayer modes including Destruction (go head-to-head with another player to see who can cause the most damage) and Cooperative (work together with other players to destroy the corporate menace).

Don’t feel like causing chaos and are looking for something more relaxing? If yes, then Sierra Online’s Sea Life Safari has you more than covered. Also looking like “one of a kind” type of Xbox Live Arcade game, Sea Life Safari lets the player take on the role of an underwater photographer who is tasked with snapping photos of marine inhabitants. Fans of Pokémon and Nintendo 64, think Pokémon Snap.

Features

  • 60+ animated creatures: Photograph the sparkling personalities of fascinating underwater sea animals to build memorable albums and your own personal scrapbook.
  • Five jaw-dropping environments: Explore unique destinations from the colorful Coral Reef to the murky Ship Graveyard, filled with countless treasures to discover!
  • Family-friendly tutorial: Experience a fully interactive tutorial teaching simple step-by-step instructions on how to become a great deep-sea photographer!
  • Educational photo evaluations: Learn the names of each of your sea creature subjects and see how your photographs rank as you are scored on four different criteria: size, orientation, centering, and interaction with each fish.
  • Endless replayability: Discover secret routes, collect hidden items, and encounter special appearances by unique day and night creatures.

I’m totally biased here, but after working on Elements of Destruction for the last several months I still enjoy playing it. There aren’t many games that I’ve worked on that have that same draw after playing them for month after month. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do.

It’s been a while since I’ve actually interested in even checking out the demo’s but I’m going to check both of these.
