First screens of James Bond: Quantum of Solace

If you’re curious how a non-Call of Duty game powered by the Call of Duty 4 Engine looks like, then treat your eyes to the first five screenshots Activision has recently dished out for the upcoming James Bond game, titled Quantum of Solace.

As is apparent from the screenshots, the game will utilize both first-person and third-person perspectives. A quick research on Wikipedia reveals that the former will be used the most throughout the game, with the latter popping up when behind cover and during quick time events.

Quantum of Solace: The Video Game will release alongside its silver screen brother in November.

Please tell me those screenshots come from the Wii version, because they look terrible!

Are we looking at the same screenshots?!? They look great to me!

Actually, I think they come from the “still in development” version.

Thought these screens looked OK. But its still highly likely that it’ll be garbage.

James Bond games tend to be gash. They just try too hard.

I sure hope a little game called Goldeneye isn’t included in that summary.

That game was the reason I stopped wetting the bed!

Have a bit of faith man! COD 4 engine, it should be at least half decent!

Comment by UK JAY on 2008-07-02 13:08:44 | Reply

Yeah but if the CoD4 engine made Uno - it still wouldn’t look any better…I think it’s about what the developers put into it - and clearly with James Bond, not enough. It’s early days though and may look a little better once fully completed

Sorry, but I can’t have any faith at all for this game. It’s being made by Treyarch (the 360 and PS3 versions), so that automatically makes it one to avoid.

Here we go again. Treyarch has put out several quality games including COD3.

It’s called Sheep culture…nothing wrong with treyarch, look at the shit Bungie rolled out recently, it could have been worse…

Just looking at Treyarch’s back catalogue. Which ones are the quality games again?

And again, which of those would you say were quality?
I know you’re big into Call Of Duty, so let’s say, those are safe.
What’s left, in what I can see, is a big list of mediocraty.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-07-03 08:23:32 | Reply

Ugh, especially the Spider-Man games.

I thought Big Red One sucked pretty bad, too.

Comment by mass9 on 2008-07-03 20:25:19 | Reply

you know, I tried to resist saying anything (mainly because we both seem to know each other’s views on games by now Jay) but I can’t after you posted that list.

Max Steele was the only thing on that list that I was realy happy with. The NHL2K series has NEVER been close to EA’s NHL games. Anything involving Spider Man tends to be a button masher, and those were bad ones at that! 2K Baseball series has been their biggest winner, and save for the most recent (08 edition) they’ve all been pretty shoddy too (08 gets a reprise becausse I REALLY like the new pitching mechanics…..and you shouldn’t put them on your list if you haven’t played them, and they wouldn’t be on your list if you had. LOL)

Treyarch are not a bad dev team, but def. not a good one either. For every decent game (CoD3) there are a handful of turds (see: list above).

Comparing Treyarch to Bungie isn’t even Apples to Oranges….its Fillet Mignon to left over pork-chops.

Sorry Jay, but Treyarch (and TONS of other video game devs can and DO dream of being as consistant as Bungie is in their quality of product(dating back to the days of Myst, continuing today with H3).

If anything, the only prevalant “sheep” culture that I can see is everyone bashing Bungie, espicially considering the article (and comments up to that point) said NOTHING about Bungie.

oy, you’ve got me upset Jay. I need a coffee and a smoke break. Thanks a lot dude, thanks a lot…….

I think you’re thinking of Myth, not Myst. :P

Comment by mass9 on 2008-07-03 21:45:16 | Reply

correct sir.

but Myst was pretty cool too.

I was put off when my parents started playing it.

Comment by Bryer on 2008-07-02 15:38:12 | Reply

At least this time the developers have got Bond looking like the actor that is playing the character in the film, I wonder if this game will include any parts from Casino Royale, considering both films are linked very closely!

Comment by Veritas on 2008-07-03 08:25:04 | Reply

Well, from what I remember the only time the games had a character that wasn’t Pierce Brosnan was in the game Agent Under Fire. Nightfire and that third person one both had him in it, and they came after AUF.
