Battlefield: Bad Company update in certification

Battlefield: Bad Company developer DICE has been listening to all of the feedback from gamers across the globe and has a treat in store for them. Over on the official Bad Company website, EA has confirmed that the game’s first update is in the process of testing and certification.

Battlefield: Bad Company will be getting its first update sometime soon

The first update for Battlefield: Bad Company is coming in the form of The Conquest Pack. This is a brand new game mode entitled Conquest and is currently going through the testing and certification process. Provided that it passes certification, then it shouldn’t be too long before it is available for gamers to download. However, this is not the only thing that DICE is working on. The following is a list of things that will be investigated for possible future Bad Company updates.

  • Clan support/private rooms/team chat
  • Auto balancing on servers
  • Continued support against stats exploits
  • VOIP issue on PS3
  • Squads might be split up when joining a server as a squad. This is due to team balancing in the games that are being joined, and usually resolves itself in round 2.

As always, it is great to see developers listening to gamers and taking their advice on board. Hopefully the issues that are to be investigated will be addressed in future updates. Is there anything else that you’d like DICE to implement in future updates?

Clan Support? Nice …

It is being investigated by DICE, but that has not been confirmed that it will be in a future update.

Parties need to be expanded to at least 8 players, if only for chat purposes, and should be manageable in-game ala Frontlines (i.e., players decide who will be in their squad when the match starts). Parties should never be split-up under any circumstances– why can other games get this right while BF gets it so wrong? There is no excuse for splitting parties, and it needs to be their top priority fix if anyone is going to take this game seriously. Then they can move on to all the crippling gameplay balancing issues.

Its selling like crazy. Look at your friends list and see how many people are playing it. What exactly do you mean by “if anyone is going to take this game seriously”?

not to mention that halo 3 suffers from party split up all the time in any of the social rooms

Yeah, can you believe it!?? A feature that should have been part of a $60 game that you all paid $60 for but didn’t get $60 worth because this was missing is now being released FOR FREE!! Wow, they are SOOOO good to us. *warmness*

I guess you aren’t aware of the battlefield games, they dont exactly all keep the same features/game modes and it was through customer requests this is now being added

umm hate to tell you buddy but im happy with the game as it is… these features are just like adding chocolate syrup on top of an already wicked icecream sundae

Awww, poor mass9, pull a tissue out of your purse and wipe the tears away… then re-apply your mascara.

is this game any good?

Yes it is. The current game mode Gold Rush is a nice change from the traditional conquest mode that they are about to release. I’ve been really enjoying the game.

gotz to read the article, the clan support is just being thinked about, its not in the next patch…

Comment by Tucky on 2008-07-03 08:05:52 | Reply

And you have “gotz to” learn to read and write. idiot.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-07-03 08:15:57 | Reply

Don’t criticize others when your own ain’t perfect, bub. You started a sentence with “and” and you didn’t capitalize the “i” in “idiot”. You also used it as a sentence, which it most definitely is not.

STFU and let people post. There’s no need to be a jerk when they aren’t being one to you.

The period goes inside the quotes, Veritas, haha.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-07-03 09:20:07 | Reply

Actually, it can be placed either way. =P The American version is to just always put the period in the quotes (nice and easy). The British and literary styles only place the period inside the quotes when it’s the end of a quoted sentence, passage, etc. although now the British have started adapting the American style, too.

Since it’s my major, I’ve just sorta trained myself to do it the literary way. It’s easier for when I write papers.

learn something every day.

My teachers must have been socialists, as I was never given the choice (nor did I know an alternative existed!). Then again, I never took English as my Major.

MLA guidelines or nothing IMO.

Comment by G0LIA7H on 2008-07-03 20:44:46 | Reply

i hate MLA…

Comment by Veritas on 2008-07-03 20:51:04 | Reply

Hahaha, well, MLA is certainly better than nothing, although the rules are slowly becoming more lax as people get lazier.

Comment by Curtis Jackson on 2008-07-04 05:27:00 | Reply

Well you and I are American, so we do it the American way! Haha, I guess I just got schooled there. Yea, I’ve only been taught using MLA guidelines, so I guess I was wrong (well, not wrong, just not 100% correct, either).

Comment by The_Glovner on 2008-07-12 08:45:27 | Reply

“And” is accepted these days at the start of a sentence, didn’t used to be and a lot of people would consider it incorrect, but it is still generally accepted.

“STFU and let people post. There’s no need to be a jerk when they aren’t being one to you.”

Now where I have heard that before???

I think it was when you told someone to go kill themselves.

Comment by dstrike on 2008-07-03 14:27:13 | Reply

the one thing I can think of in gameplay may be to shorten the range of the shotguns. They are not overpowered but they do have a long range, imo

let me shoot you with a shotgun from 10ft away and see if it hurts in real life ;)

Comment by Kid Outhouse on 2008-07-03 17:26:40 | Reply

It’s called balance, you fuckin nitwit. If everything had “real life” characteristics then you wouldn’t be walking away after taking 30 rounds from a light machine gun. But I don’t hear you saying anything about that, oh no, how dare we suggest there are flaws with your latest love interest.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-07-03 20:52:35 | Reply

Well people in the game usually die after 30 rounds, too.

The problem is finding a gun that can actually be that accurate. :P

kid outhouse… for someone with such a gay nickname you really should stop being such a anal a$$ and ho back to your outhouse and remove the stick from your a$$

I just have to mention that I think the Single Player is really well done too. I’m a long-time player of the Battlefield franchise. (Started with 1942 on PC, ended with 2142 before switching to the 360). This is definitly the best iteration so far.

Anymore news on this update? i’m jonesing to play conquest at the moment

The party system is bollocks. I’ve not managed to get in a gaem with a 4 man squad and stay in said 4 man squad yet, it ALWAYS splits us, 2 on one team ion a squad, two on anther. Fucking fix this EA. Seriously. When you can’t even talk to everyone on your team, at least let you be able to talk to 4 friends in a fucking map!

they need to work on it thats for sure, like being able to select your squad from the grounp, i understand 24 people all trying to talk over each other would be crazy but come on let us choose and set our own squads

Yeah… Excuse the typos, i’ve just woken up…

Comment by mu on 2008-07-07 02:10:52 | Reply

this was in “testing and certification” on the 2nd?

more likely it is in the testing phase now, and will someday be entering the certification process. i think it is misleading to bundle them together like that, because the certification process is a four day period, and testing could take an indefinite period of time.

I get payed today and I havnt bought a game in a long ttime I keep playing the demo lol is worth it to buy it?

Comment by mu on 2008-07-12 05:59:31 | Reply

i would personally wait for the first patch and the conquest game mode. the ea servers are down a lot, and that would suck if it is your only new game. single player is solid though, and i expect them to get the MP straightened out with a patch or two, but it has issues.
