New Halo 3 map, Legendary maps price drop on Bungie Day

Bungie fanatics most likely already have their eyes fixed on July 7, as that’s the day that’s know to them as the Bungie Day, the day on which the developer spoils its rabid community with all kinds of goodies. Since the Bungie folk will be very (with the emphasis on very) busy over the coming weekend, there will be no time to release a Weekly Update, so they thought it best to put it up prematurely. Included in the update is news that will surely make fans drool like Pavlov’s dogs.

Starting July 7, a new Halo 3 multiplayer map, titled Cold Storage, will be made available on the Marketplace for free (yes, you read that right!). Here’s how Cold Storage will be implemented in the playlists:

“For now, Cold Storage will be implemented in regular rotation in playlists that require the Legendary Maps. To avoid confusion, playlists that previously required the Legendary Maps will now remind players that they need “all Maps” to participate, and since Cold Storage is free, it shouldn’t be a big deal for you to grab the map on July 7 and then return to your regularly scheduled business in SWAT.”

Additionally, beginning July 7, a 48-hour long seven-player FFA playlist will find its way into Halo 3’s Matchmaking. Also, the Bungie Day will see the release of one-day-only free gamerpics and theme. If that’s not enough to get your salivary glands going, what if we told you that on the same day Microsoft will drop the price of the Legendary Map Pack from 800 to 600 Microsoft Points? Better? Let us know below.

People still play this? :-P

Which set of maps was the Legendary pack? The first or second set?

The second, and yeah people do I think. I used to play it non stop, but since I got into COD4 I can’t get used to putting a good 30 bullets into someone before they die.

Ah, I don’t have the second pack… Won’t be buying it so I guess no free map for me.

i dont play it as much as cod4 of bfbc… but i still play it from now and then… its for that time when you dont feel like a serious shooter and want more arcady fun

@ fetter
only about 300000 or so. Not too many ;)

@ S. Perry
4 shots with the BR to the head =/= 30. Learn to aim I guess? lol.

Aiming just isn’t my style :) which is why I tend to stick to COD4 now. Before anyone jumps in, I don’t think either one is better than the other.

Any relation Micheal Kelso from the TV show? I’m not surprised to see his kids born with the natural tendency to be dumb.
