[E32008] Entire Rock Band 2 tracklist unveiled

As we rush to sum up Microsoft’s press conference that ended just recently, press releases galore are flooding out from Los Angeles. First up was Rock Band 2, announcing what will be coming on the disc, as well as re-confirming that the game is a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360.

There will be over 100 songs on the Rock Band 2 soundtrack, with over 80 songs on disc plus an additional 20 bonus tracks which will be made available for free download on the Xbox Live Marketplace this Fall.

Here’s everything that Harmonix wants you to know:

  • After 14 years since Guns N’ Roses last official music release, Axl Rose selects Rock Band 2 to debut official new track “Shackler’s Revenge” from the highly-anticipated album Chinese Democracy.
  • Rock Band 2 is the first and only video game to feature the music of AC/DC. It includes their epic rock anthem, “Let There Be Rock.”
  • For the first time ever, music from American music icon, Bob Dylan, is featured in a video game with “Tangled Up In Blue.”
  • Rock Band 2 will feature backwards compatibility with all Rock Band downloadable music content released to date.
  • Owners of the original Rock Band will have the ability to export most of the Rock Band disc tracks and upgrade them into Rock Band 2 gameplay-the first time ever in videogame history!
  • With ongoing weekly DLC releases including individual tracks, track packs and full albums, the Rock Band music library will feature more than 500 songs by year’s end!

There are conflicting reports around the internet thanks to confusion from what was said at the MS Press Conference. Whilst the press release states that all Rock Band 1 tracks will be transferable, on stage it was said that “most” tracks will transfer over. Apparently there will be a one-off $5 fee too in order to do this, which is a little surprising.

Despite some parts that need clarifying, this is an amazing list that will surely have Rock Band 1 adopters coming back for more. We hope to clear up some issues, so stay tuned and we’ll let you know. Share your thoughts below; is there anyone missing?

This is an incredible anouncement … 70+ master tracks from awesome bands for 60 bucks … plus the RB2 disc will play all of the RB1 DLC, PLUS all of the songs on the original disc.

Instead of making RB 2 like GHIII or Madden ‘09, Harmonix has done the unthinkable and aimed to please their fans. Instead of being a standalone money sucking GH Encore: Rock the 80’s, RB 2 is the more like the coolest expansion pack ever. This is so freaking cool!

Waters and Gilmour have their heads stuck too far up their asses to ever let their music be in a video game.

More like they want more money for it … Tickets to the Roger Waters concert here were $130+

Thank god I’ve got a hookup here in the hometown … b/c the show as incredible!

T H A N K Y O U & S O L D!

Adding to a game rather than replacing it, a giant “upgrade” that lets me play my old tracks and my new ones?!?! Like buying a massive track pack for $0.80USD a track for me new favorite game.

Its great how you can use your old trax in RB2 but the setlist doesnt have as many mainstream hits as I’d hoped. Will see what GH can produce. Track’s from Lenny Kravitz, Muse, The Darkness, U2, Queen, etc etc.Maybe they just couldn’t afford them. Bit of a let down. And also if you’re going to do AC DC why wouldn’t you choose something like Jailbreak or Thunderstruck? Again Harmonix have gone with a lesser known track. A great game and I know i’ll love it but would’ve liked more popular rock trax.

You know there will be an expansion pack with more ACDC. That’s the awesome part about Rock band … you can almost gaurentee if a band has one song on the disk, you will see DLC from that artist.
