Battlefield and Top Spin demo rumors [Updated]

According to Gaming 360, a demo of the upcoming EA game Battlefield 2: Modern Combat will be released March 24th. The demo is supposed to offer 24 player online havoc. Gaming 360 doesn’t give away their source so we’re unable to verify it and will classify this news as a rumor. The full game should hit the shelves April 11th.

A Top Spin 2 demo is also rumored to come out a few days before the final game is launched says Prodigious Gaming. Their source is a little more reliable because this info came from an interview with Thorsten Moeckel, senior producer at 2K Sports. The release date for this game is set April 3rd.

“We are planning to have a playable demo released on marketplace just before launch, as well as new trailers for the game featuring some really great and intense action sequences,” stated Moeckel.

Thanks to trj156 for pointing us towards the battlefield demo rumor.

Update: The battlefield demo rumor is not a rumor anymore. This info comes directly from EA:

If you want to experience all-out 24 player Xbox Live action in eye-bursting next-gen graphics, make sure that you download the Battlefield 2: Modern Combat demo, which will be available for download over Xbox Live Marketplace from March 24.

Sounds good, but I’m not getting too excited before it’s actually on MP….. 24 player online play sounds good for the BF demo.

Something deep inside me wishes to scream “bullsh[expletivedeleted]!” I’m understandably, still bitter.

yo varidian,
just because a publisher has finished a demo, and even given it to m$ for certification, is no indication that WE will recieve it in a timely manner. it has been proven time and time again that even developers and publishers are in the dark as to exactly when something will hit the market place. if you have been keeping an ear to the scene, it has been burned off by now…
there seems to be no reason to believe this or not believe it. it could just as easily show up as not show up as far as i am concerned, and although i would LOVE to see it… i wouldn’t get my hopes up…

Well…There still isn’t any GRAW demo (I know, no-one will download it) But, thatwas ment to be out before The Outfit demo, But the 24 player fragfest sounds ace, whats the betting it’s just that level that you got with the Xbox 1 Online enabled demo?

TRIGGER:

Yeah, but I never played that. So bring me a shru - demo.

I wouldn’t mind if it was that level. It is called “Backstab” and it was one of the more popular levels even in the full game for Xbox.

But who knows when we will see a demo.

Anyone like the way that EA say “Eye Bursting next gen graphics”?
They better deliver.

I hope that I am wrong, but Major Nelson responded to the uproar over the outfit demo not coming out until 3 days after it was scheduled. He specifically stated that fridays are not likely release dates for demo’s because if there is a problem with it, it is difficult to solve over the weekend when most offices are closed. Anyone care to guess what day of the week the 24th is? Hope I’m wrong though.
