Gears of War 2 getting a Limited Edition
Surprise! As was the case in November 2006 when the original Gears of War released, the upcoming sequel will storm retail stores in standard and limited editions as well. Thanks to a listing on GameStop, we know what extras will be hiding in Gears of War 2: Limited Edition.
For an additional $10, Gears of War fans can get the following:
- Collectible SteelBook™ DVD case
- “Beneath the Surface: An Inside Look at Gears of War 2,” a 48-page hardbound book including character profiles, exclusive concept art, and foreword by Design Director Cliff Bleszinski
- Bonus DVD including exclusive making-of-the-game video footage, design galleries with audio commentary by Epic Games, and promotional videos including the E3 2008 trailer, “Rendezvous.”
- An exclusive gold-plated Lancer Assault Rifle available during online play
It includes more bonus content than the limited edition of the original, that’s for sure. Is it worth the extra 10 dollars?

who ever actually watches all the crappy dvds you get with LEs and also who reads the books? no one, i dont see the point in buying LEs to be honest, waste of money.
your wrong, people do watch the Bonus DVDs and read the books because they are Die hard fans of GOW same goes for the people who love Halo3 and got the LE for $120 , so it is not a waste of money if you see it, it has value, so do not comment if you do not know what are your talking about.

Guilty as charged. Some of us are actually interested in the background to the development of the game. It’s like the Special Features on a DVD. I take it you never watch those either, huh?
I must confess: i bought the LE of GOW1 and watched the special features once, looked at the book once, but i thought it was a bargain for $10 extra. Now even more. U might not watch the DVD too many times, or look at the book every day, but damn, it’s satisfying having them there with your special case.

I just like having the cool cases. Sometimes I will watch the bonus dvds, but gold plated lancer….sold.
Gold plated lancer that is probably already on disc. Stop with this LE stuff and don’t hold back on extras that are already paid for on the disc. If I buy a game I want full access to everything on it. Not to pay even more to unlock it.

i was half sold on the steel case but now with gold plated lancer….extra ten bucks comin their way.

wow, so every man and his dog is going to have a gold plated lancer…therefore making it not special at all and kind of annoying in a way but i will admit the gold plated guns in Army Of TWO did look pretty sweet. I will be looking forward to watching the making of the game because thats always interesting and more Cliffy B..wait, he doesnt want to be called that anymore because he wants to be taken more seriously? He should of thought about that before he created his gamertag….
yeh i liked watching the behind the scenes stuff but really not sure about this whole golden lancer thing i think it may ruin it
Why the hell would it ruin it?
The only way it would ruin it is if the gold lancer was a better actual gun than the ones made available to people that didn’t pay. Otherwise it’s really just a waste of money that makes no difference to the actual game itself.

The funny thing is, you’ll see lots of 2nd hand SE’s in the shops about 2 months after release so if you can wait a month or 2 you’ll be able to get the SE prob a lot cheaper than the standard copy (new)I’m surprised how many SE’s end up back in a shop 2nd hand.
I got devil may cry 4 SE the other day for £15 ($30) and it’s in mint condition. Not good though if you have to have it as soon as it’s released.
I don’t think i’ll be forking out for this, if it had maybe, new multiplayer levels included or something i could use, like not 1 shiney gun, but many and with lights and bells on them. Or maybe different skin options?? Yes that would do it.
