Jade Empire joins Xbox Originals

This month’s addition to Xbox Originals doesn’t happen to be as sizeable as in June, or the months preceding it, when more than one original Xbox title released on the download service. The good news is that it’s one quality release – Bioware’s critically-acclaimed RPG Jade Empire.

The only XBOX Original that looks appealling to me is Splinter Cell (BEST GAME SERIES EVER), so, Instead of wasting a load of money, I went down to Blockbusters and looked in the pre-owned box and got it for ÂŁ0.99… waste of money in my eyes…

The only way i’d buy Xbox Originals is if it came with achievements…

There’s no way you’re going to get achievements with XBox originals. Firstly, the original XBox games were written in a different language, a language that didn’t support the 360 achievement system, or indeed anything to do with the current 360 architecture. The only way you would get achievements with an XBox original would be to rewrite the game using the XNA framework in C#. That’s a heap of additional development time whereas it’s reasonably quick to develop an emulator for the game to enable it to run on the 360. It simply wouldn’t be commercially viable to entirely rewrite an old XBox game.

Hence no achievements. I would love to see it as well, but I know it ain’t gonna happen.

I hadn’t seen any of the gameplay of this game before, but I checked it on YouTube and it looks pretty good. A possible purchase, I would say, however you can get it for ÂŁ6 on Play.com and that includes manuals and packaging so highest marks to M$ for trying, but until the price of XBox Originals can drop to about 600 or 800 MS Points, no sale.

It’s a great game, think Knights of the Old Republic meets Bruce Lee.

i am not an rpger, not even an action rpger, but this game kicked some serious ass. this game has got a lot to offer, and if you can deal with last gen visuals, jade empire has good times written all over it. but yeah, i agree, getting a used copy for a couple dollars might be the way to go on all these xboriginals.
