Halo 3 dethrones CoD 4 on Xbox Live
Just as it seemed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare would remain perched atop the most played Xbox Live titles list until the November release of Gears of War 2, Halo 3 snags the number one spot right under CoD 4’s nose and thus reclaims the Xbox Live throne, reports Major Nelson.
Here’s the Xbox 360 Top Live Titles list for the week of July 14, clearly showing Halo 3 as the new Xbox Live King:

I honestly don’t understand why all this halo bashing. True, it aint all that great, but it certainly isn’t bad.
I happen to like the top three games on there speak the truth.
Hell no it won’t last. The only reason halo 3 is back at number one is because a lot of CoD 4 people are playing Battlefield: Bad company. And who cares about weekly totals. Lets see all time totals….show the numbers.
i don’t really care, halo hasn’t been out of the disc tray since its been out, COD4 is alright, but i really like playing with ym friend on teh same screen which you can’t do on COD4 which makes it compltely worthless already

Even after the patch, I don’t think I’ve finished a game without being lagged out. It can shit the heck off.
It’s not just played online, it’s people playing the game while connected to Live, thus it includes the single player campaigns of all the games.

Every game that’s hit the market in the last few months has reminded me of a toilet bowl after someone’s pulled an upper-decker. Battlefield is a broken mess which was released in a woefully incomplete state– a leading candidate for disappointment of the year. UT3 is like stepping into a fucking time machine, back before party-systems, and voice chat, and enjoyable gameplay. NCAA is the usual regurgitated, imbalanced, and generally unplayable EA football cash magnet. Madden will undoubtedly be more of the same. Civ Rev might be the reigning king of the summer so far, but nobody is interested because the game takes a fucking eternity to play-through. Can you think of any other title that isn’t already littering the bargain bin?
But I’m sure one of you sack-handlers will chime in to tell we why all those games are fine and that we should just settle for mediocrity and incompetence…

honestly, i couldn’t play ut3 for more than ten minutes. and although i play bad company, i spend more time pissed off than anything else. the net code is just sloppy as hell right now. or possibly the ea servers are over worked. either way, it could be great, but it ain’t.
How is Battlefield broken? There’s a few things that nag, but all in all I’ve had nothing but a great experience playing that with friends.

um, Civ Rev is finishable in an afternoon. In fact, Blitzkreig scenario can be completed in about 1.5-2 hours.

And it certainly does take an eternity to play a Civ match with friends. Yes, mass9, some of us have friends to play with… not like you who spends most of the day inserting yourself into various inflatable objects.
Now that MS has decided that Live should be free for PC gamers I decided not to renew my subscription. Single player FTW and perhaps a PS3 for MP games.

COD4 needs to release new maps and most important a handful of new prestiges to get the #1 spot back.
CoD4 also needs to be sorted out for UK based players, since the last update the game has lagged, crashed, becoming unplayable. It also dumps you into game modes you don’t choose. Roll on the new game modes and hopefully a update to clear up this awful lag for us on this side of the pond!
I play from the UK no trouble on a 2.8m connection. Maybe your router ports need a good configuration.
People knew this was going to happen,It was just a matter of time. HALO 3 has so much more replay value then COD4. Whith Forge,Theater and the new maps that keep comming out.COD4 needs a special playlist to play DLC like HALO 3 has it. Owning the DLC maps on COD4 is useless because you never get to play on them. Infinity Ward needs to learn how to develope a proper Matchmaking system like HALO 3 has it. I am not bashing COD4 (I own it) but the truth is that a proper matchmaking system can make all the diference no matter how good or bad a game is. One reason HALO 3 is so successful is because the developer (BUNGIE) listens to the fans,and gives the fans what they want example: the free cold storage map
this add more replay value to a game.

teamplay requires comunication and unfortunately the vast majority of xbox live users struggle with stringing a coherant sentance together!
