The people behind Band of Bugs, Cloning Clyde and Outpost Kaloki X have announced fourth XBOX Live Arcade title in the form of A Kingdom for Keflings. We’ve got all the details for you inside.
Speaking to IGN Steve Taylor, president of NinjaBee revealed the first details of the game. Up until now we’ve only had viral videos teasing us as to what the game is about, but now we have a whole shed-load of solid details.
Taylor explains what the game is about and talks about the inspiration for the game:
GN: We haven’t heard anything about A Kingdom for Keflings yet. What’s the main objective in the game? How do you “win” the game?
Steve Taylor: The objective is to build a Kingdom for the Keflings that live in a little valley. Officially, you “win” the game when you build a castle! There’s actually a bit more you can do after the castle in terms of customizing your kingdom, but that’s the official goal (and, naturally, it earns you the big Achievement).
IGN: What was the inspiration for this game?
Taylor: A long time ago I did a game-in-a-day prototype for a simple city management game that focused on what the inhabitants of the city were assigned to do. We re-designed that basic concept a couple of times, and Jeremy, one of the designers at NinjaBee, suggested the avatar-based approach to controlling the game. From there, it sort of grew into what it is now, an avatar-based city building game with a big focus on working with the inhabitants directly.
Be sure to check out some footage of the game in the video below:
Taylor claims the game will keep you entertained for 10-12 hours and that we’ll be seeing it sometime this Autumn. Stay tuned for more on this one…
