Rock Band DLC for August 12 revealed

If the past weeks weren’t your thing as far as Rock Band DLC is concerned, metal heads, prepare to be taken aback. We say this because this coming Tuesday will bring the Rock Band DLC offering that you’ve been so impatiently waiting for – as many as six metal-branded tracks will be on offer at a discounted price – how is that for a change?

Roadrunner 6 Pack – 480 MSP

  • Airbourne – Runnin’ Wild - 80 MSP
  • DevilDriver – Clouds Over California - 80 MSP
  • Dream Theater – Constant Motion - 80 MSP
  • Killswitch Engage – My Curse - 80 MSP
  • Machine Head – Aesthetics Of Hate - 80 MSP
  • Megadeth – Sleepwalker - 80 MSP

The prices stated above will be in effect for only a month, with a single track going up in price to 160 MSP and the song pack to 800 MSP from then onwards. That’s quite a tasty serving, so you better snap it up if you are into the genre.

Thanks to Worms and AbiosiS for submitting.

Freakin love Clouds Over California. 6 good metal songs for $6 is hard to beat. I think I’ll have to take Tuesday off work ;)

I can’t imagine how awesome it must be to play that song.

Just Airbourne for me. Not my type of music, I hate when people yell and scream when they “sing” it gives me a headache trying to figure out what the hell they’re trying to say. Hell of a deal though, I wish they would do this for music I like too. :-( It’s been a couple of disappointing weeks for me. Even The Who was a major disappointment with their live songs instead of the masters. Oh well, I still love you Rock Band!

I hate to be a nit-picker, but Bon Scott’s and Froggy’s vocal stylings (and subsequently Airbourne’s, as they’re emulating AC/DC) are closer to screaming than the vocals in most metal music, as they’re using the higher range of their vocal cords.

While it’s true that a lot of hardcore, post-punk, etc. stuff does involve screaming, it’s generally not considered metal, outside of the cross-genre stuff (and actually, a lot of metal heads go out of their ways make sure people know that).

The typical method used for vocals in a lot of modern metal music is called growling. :P It’s sort of like a more developed version of James Hetfield’s vocal style… harsh, aggressive, but also low.

Also, if you’ve ever had any interest in metal, I recommend you try listening to Killswitch Engage. The singer does scream during the verses, but in most of the choruses he sings, and he has a fantastic voice (better than most American Idol contestants, I think). :D Also, Dream Theater, as much as I despise the band (grrr, Berklee College of Music), has no screaming or growling at all, it’s just flat-out progressive metal. Think 10-minute+ songs.

“You don’t understand shit about music.”

Wow, you’re a genius! I say “I hate when people yell and scream when they “sing” it gives me a headache trying to figure out what the hell they’re trying to say.” Then you come up with that gem. Amazing…

If you really care THAT much about music to the point that you get your panties in a wad when (how dare!) someone says something bad about the music you like, you need anger management. Pathetic.

As far as the pussy comment… At least I get some. While you have to wank it to you Motorhead poster while using your long hair for lube. Actually… Now I can understand your anger and frustration. *shrugs*

METAL UP THE ASS!! Time to get another damn points card.

FYI.. Target is selling 1600msp Cards for $14.99 this week only… now would be the time to stock up. You can thank me later.

Damn! I just went to Target today and completely passed over the electronics section thinking that I didn’t need anything. Ugh. I guess I need to go back. :-(
