More Geometry Wars games planned

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 was a long, long rumoured sequel to the 2005 Xbox Live Arcade original, now finally available on the download service after more than two years of waiting. Luckily for fans of the nerve-wracking arcade shooter, there will be no wait for confirmation of future Geometry Wars installments, as Activision-owned developer Bizarre Creations recently confirmed to MTV Multiplayer that we surely haven’t seen the last of Geometry Wars.

In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, the developer of Project Gotham Racing fame divulged that “Geometry Wars is definitely a franchise,” and that “it’s not going to stop.” As a result, a small team at Bizarre is now dedicated solely to the Geometry Wars series. Said Bizarre Programmer Stephen Cakebread:

“We have enough game ideas to do ‘Geometry Wars’ for probably about 10 games. It depends on what will work.”

See – no need to worry, Geo Wars fans. For those wondering what took the team so long to put out the sequel, here’s the reason:

“We were initially like, “Ooh let’s get a ‘Geometry Wars’ out next year.” When we sat down, we realized we didn’t really know what we wanted to do with it.”

Fair enough. Given the sequel’s high score of 90 on Metacritic, it certainly looks like it benefited from the additional development time.

why cant they put all the ideas into 1 game instead of ten because i aint going to buy all them.

If they’re going to do that it might as well be a retail title.

This is how business works, my friend :) . Add just enough features to each new title so that the consumer feels like he/she’s getting his/her money worth.

I should’ve known it would be too good to last.

This latest installment has more than enough to be the last game in the series. Hell, the last game did. Now they’re going to be milking this franchise for every last cent.

How long before we start to see Geometry Wars: Steven Hawking and Geometry Wars: Albert Einstein?

Can anybody make helpful comments these days? Why does everybody have to complain about stuff? If you don’t like it then don’t buy it, just stop moaning already and give the others a chance to see for themselves what a game does or does not do. Everybody has a different idea of what does or doesn’t work for them
