[GC08] Microsoft revising 360 d-pad for PES 2009
For many a gamer, the Xbox 360 controller is bliss to play with, if not the best game pad ever made for a console. However, it does have its shortcomings, the biggest and most noticeable of which is no doubt the shitty d-pad. Thankfully, Microsoft has decided to improve the d-pad, though there’s a catch – the revised d-pad will only be featured by a new, limited edition line of Xbox 360 controllers intended to promote Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.
Microsoft explained the situation:
“The new limited-edition green wireless controller offers enhancements to d-Pad functionality, which will add to the experience of playing games where the d-Pad is the primary control mechanism. We’re always looking to improve products and we made these changes based on feedback from gamers.”
Even worse is the fact that the new controller is “a limited edition promotional item that is only available in Europe, Asia and Latin America while supplies last.” Boo!

i havent had a problem with the d pad, its not like its used real heavily in games for long periods of time so who gives a shit.
If MS was wise, truly wise, they would rollout the new D-pad in the regular production line of Xbox 360 controllers.
There’s a precedent to this. MS did scuttle the Xbox “Duke” controller for the smaller JDM Xbox controller. Definitely a smart move years ago.

This is intelligent. they’re going to try out a new controller, if it goes over well, then they may start producing it widely. for them to just change ALL the controllers they make it would cost them a lot of money.

New D-Pad controller is welcome for Streetfighter IV. Current one isn’t really good enough when playing Streetfighter III
I know what people meen the D-pad is a major function of the tomb raider games, and im always taking medi packs when im just trying to turn a flashlight on! or with oblivions hotkey when i end up getting out completely the wrong weapon.
