[GC08] Project Origin slips into 2009

As the holiday season slowly approaches, more and more developers admit that one or more of their upcoming titles won’t be ready for release by this year’s end. The latest to the mix is Monolith Productions, whose art developer Dave Matthews recently unveiled at GC 2008 that Project Origin will be hitting retail in the first quarter of 2009.

Project Origin is the spiritual successor to the horror first-person shooter F.E.A.R. which continues the story of the freaky, psychic child Alma. Instead of reprising the role as the Point Man, gamers play as a Delta Force operator called Michael Becket, the game’s new protagonist. His mission is to arrest Armacham’s president, Genevieve Aristide, around thirty minutes before the ending of the original.

Am I the only person who really hated FEAR? It got great reviews so I gamefly’ed it and it was SO boring. Every level looks the same.

Nope, I thought it was tremendously boring, too. The only fun weapon was the nail gun.

a) I’m happy it got delayed, there’s just too many games right now and my wallet is getting stressed about it

b) The bad thing about FEAR was repetitive CQB environment, which they admitted and there’ll will be more variety, open door levels and the usual inside levels.

c) The good thing, especially on the harder difficulties, was the adaptive AI. Multiplayer was pretty good as well.

This is an older game mind you, don’t judge it on the console ports but on the pc game at the time. It even made the mp free later on.
