New Duke Nukem 3D details & media blast onto the tubes

As expected, Duke Nukem 3D previews are starting to show up on the internet and while no new significant features are revealed that we haven’t reported on, IGN’s write-up offers the first screenshots and videos of the Arcade adaptation, with the latter also showcasing the gameplay recording and rewind features.

The video demonstrates that a timeline pops up on screen when you die, which then allows you to rewind to any point in a level and jump straight back in. Moreover, when in the main menu, not only can you view your saved replays, but you can also start playing from any point on the saved timeline.

On the multiplayer side, Duke Nukem 3D supports competitive multiplayer and co-op over Xbox Live or system link for up to eight players at once. As well as that, there’s also matchmaking, custom matches (player or ranked), and other options, such as monster frequency, frag and time limits, and respawn markers. Visually, the game stays true to the Duke Nukem 3D classic, with no additional paintjob done.

Duke Nukem 3D is expected to release on the Xbox Live Arcade in September.

I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS F’IN GAME!!! I cut my teeth playing this against my friends on my lightning fast 14.4 dial up modem. Seriously, this has made my year. Everything old is new again.

What’s with the stupid border around the game-screen? Can that be turned off? Is the game going to run in a 4:3 aspect ratio? That would be terrible.

Oh, and the timeline feature is really cool.

Yeah, it’s not like any other old games have appeared on the arcade that were designed for 4:3 ratio screens have borders. Oh wait…..

if this game is more than 800 points then its just stupid so what if its got rewind feature, it doesn’t even look that good.

It didn’t have Wolfenstein 3d on it, it had Rise of the Triads and another demo on the DN3d when it first came out.
