Looks like Battlefield is exemplifying the new video game business model--

Day 1: Ship game disk containing $30 worth of content, charge full retail price ($60)

Day 60-120: If sales are poor, abandon all support of game. Otherwise, release patch fixing only the most buggy and broken game mechanics. Release $5-10 worth of content, and charge for it depending on your mood. Gamers will praise anything you do at this point!

Day 120-180: If good sales numbers are maintained, another $5-10 worth of content are in order. Charge whatever you like, your customers will worship you! Release another patch addressing only minor issues; NEVER fix every problem, gamers don't deserve that.

Day 180+: Should customers continue to eat your shit, feel free to bleed as much money as possible through additional DLC. If sales subside, abondon all support of game.

Not a bad racket, ya?
