And again a MLB game that doesn’t see the light of day in Europe.. why?? ;(

Seems like a fun game, but they forgot Europe…

The first day they ran those “Shocktober” adverts there was access to a game called “Zombie Wrangler” for 800pts. Is it still there?

I find the USA’s views on baseball games in Eurpoe a total kick in the head.

We (Europe) can’t get baseball games because the won’t sell as its not a popular sport… HOWEVER… The USA get’s FIFA every year and you know how popular Football/Soccer is in the USA.

Soccer is the most popular game in the world, why wouldn’t it be released in the US?

+1

However, I understand where Foolinjection is coming from.

Its a bummer and totally counter intuitive with MLB’s talk lately about making baseball a much more global game.

But I think a better comparission of games would be Cricket and baseball, not soccer which has a solid following in the US. And really FIFA has fairly strong support here in the US and always has. I know many a self declared soccer hater who isn’t ashamed to say they enjoy playing FIFA. I remember a few years back a player from a large national known college hockey team was asked how often the players played the NHL games and he said that the game of choice for the team was FIFA.

I think you’d be surprised how many baseball fans there are in Europe, particularly the UK from my own experience. They should release it here at least. It would DEFINITELY sell.

Well, in regards to Baseball video games, at least Europe isn’t missing anything. …at least until EA takes over the MLB license again. :-)

I don’t know for sure, but I suspect the lack of MLB titles in Europe and other areas is more of a licensing issue than a popularity one. Perhaps the cost of an international MLB license is prohibitively high, so the publishers had no choice but to limit distribution to the US and Canada.

Yeah, things like that are a pain. My kids still moan because they can’t get to play the SpongeBob Squarepants arcade game.

One day borders will be meaningless… well I can dream, can’t I?

I bet you all root for the shit teams.

I remember talking to a friend of mine from the UK that thought Barry Bonds was awesome. Barry fucking Bonds.

Sh*t teams? You mean like the TB Rays ….

Comment by Veritas on 2008-10-10 17:48:22 | Reply

The Rays USED to be a shit team. This season they’ve made the play-offs, and they’ve beaten my beloved Sox more than the Sox have beaten them. The whole world’s turned upside-down, I say.

I didn’t mention a thing about teams. I said baseball. Not specific teams. I enjoy baseball regardless of who’s playing. Not living near any of the teams you speak of pretty much removes me from any of the pointless colloquialism you seek to inspire.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-10-12 16:48:53 | Reply

Well that doesn’t make much sense. Baseball isn’t much fun when the teams playing are bad. I’m an avid fan, but even I can admit the game can be -really- boring sometimes, and watching bad teams play makes the games just that.

Comment by Veritas on 2008-10-12 16:50:05 | Reply

Not to mention how much more fun it is to root for a specific team and follow them all the way to the post-season. :P

They do deserve a win at some point in the next hundred years. =P

I took a chance and bought the MLB Stickball…I gotta say…it’s good for some mindless fun. But it’s not for the hardcore sports fan.
