Fable II fixes on the way
Like every other game these days, releasing it without bugs is almost impossible so it seems. Fable II is no exception to this. As many of you noticed there are some bugs in the game and the Abbot Quest is one of those notorious issues in the community. For those who own the game there is some good and bad news.
The good news is that the issue will be fixed. In a recent interview Lionhead Community Manager Sam van Tilburgh talked about the problem and how it’s a top priority for them.
“We’re keeping a close eye on our forums, while a lot of the issues reported are not issues with the game necessarily, some of them are (like the two examples mentioned in my blog) however and so we’re looking at those, plus some (like the Abbot Quest) have been fixed already. The biggest issue is when people report a show stopping issue on our forums without enough information for us to reproduce it. Regarding the ETA for said patch, there is no news yet.”
The bad news is that no information about the arrival of the patch has been announced.
By the looks of it they stretched the concept of good and evil a bit far and are even using it in the release schedule of patches and fixes. Let’s hope they don’t keep us waiting too long to get these issues resolved.
Are you also experiencing issues with Fable II or are you enjoying your jobs, families, farting jokes and open world of Fable II way too much to be bothered with glitches? Let us know in the comments below.

I love the game.
But I can’t play anymore because of the Abbot glitch.
I’m keeping myself busy in the meantime… but it’s really annoying, and soiled an otherwise great experience.
Whats the abbot glitch?
i’m like 10mins away from finnishing and i have’nt seen any thing too bad.
although i did miss 2 of the *gargoyals* in the temple of light which i cant get now
The abbot glitch (and others like it) are triggered by the poor scripting choices by the developers for story-relevant dialogue. If a character like the Abbot in Oakfield begins a dialogue that is necessary to get a story quest, but you do not stay (or were never there, in a lot of cases) to finish it, you cannot go back and get the quest.
For example, I was exploring around the Temple of Light and ran by the front of the Temple, without realizing the Abbot was talking. When I went back to get the quest (I think it’s to repair the bridge or something), the Abbot just stands there, and cannot be talked to, doesn’t react to expressions, and doesn’t even look at you. He’s basically a piece of the landscape, and now I’m stuck in Oakfield with nowhere to go and very little to do.
So, tip: if anyone is talking to you, stop and listen to them.
And hope that they don’t start talking before you’re even there…
Veritas, why not start over? I realize it’s a pain but after a few hours you could be back there again. That’s what I ended up having to do. It was unfortunate, but wasn’t the end of the world. Just be sure to hear the Abbots speel next time :).
I did, with a different character. I had five stars in blacksmithing and wood chopping, along with all of Oakfield bought… I’m not gonna lose all of that because of terrible event triggers.
Another issue they should fix is the gliding issue in co-op when you get too far away from each other (which in itself is a pain in the tits).
Not sure if it’s a glitch but when you commission a stautue it still appears on the list as available but you get 0 reknown if you select it again.
That’s just because you can change the statue, but they don’t want you to exploit it.
My wife is glitched leading me to put my “upkeep” money down to 0 in hopes she will soon leave me so I can try to start a new family that isnt living inside a wall ouside of the castle
You had me at “My wife is glitched”.
I can “instant travel” to any map region or any quest - but somewhere along the way I’ve lost the ability to “instant travel” back to my family.
The option is still there, but nothing happens when I click it.
Good game, even though I don’t get off on RPG games.
Couple of quirks though…
1) the various professions parts of the game are very tedious… in that the higher levels take FOREVER to acheive - wouldn’t be so bad if the tasks were less monotonous that timing a jab of the ‘A’ button over and over. It’s one hell of a dull way to spend your time in the great environment Lionhead have designed.
2) You seem to fight the same battles over and over on your journey between the different regions (when not instant travelling) - the same bandits etc in the same formation… e.g. on the cliff tops on the coastal path.
3) My wife’s status says she ‘wants sex’ - so I travel hundreds of miles back to see her, lavish her favourite presents on her and take her to her favourite spot, before dancing, farting, etc etc - which she loves. Only for her to find my flirting ’sweet’. Case of nice try, but no cigar. Luckily, my other wife bangs like a shit-house door in the wind… so doesn’t matter so much that one of them’s frigid!
But there’s a lot to like here - those minor gripes aren’t anything too bad considering the range of choices you have.
Kind of like a cross between an RPG and God of War… especially when you get to meet the huge troll creatures.
The bit about not being able to fast travel to your family is another glitch. I’ve experienced that from day one. I haven’t been able to do that at any stage.
Asides from some glitches, it’s a great game. Nice controls, fun to play and gorgeous to look at.
I couldn’t get my spouse to have sex with me, although that may have something to do with the 30 villagers who constantly just wander into my house and then up to my bedroom while I’m trying to whisper sweet nothing’s in my partner’s digital ear… More the merrier, I say, however my partner seems to think otherwise.
wish mine banged like a shit-house door mine just looks like a shit-house
This game is a mess….. most glitchy game i have seen in a while…. i beat it and am very dissappointed in the game as a whole… glithes, loading all the time…. major pop-up… definetly not at 9/10 game more like 8/10 imo…fun but no Oblivion
Never mind, Fallout 3 is out now. That’s gonna whip the ass of Fable II without a doubt.
Yeah my game is a mess, I can’t get more than a few meters into a cave or dungeon without the game freezing. So there comes a point where you are forced to go through a cave…
Sounds more likely that you may be getting three lights displaying themselves soon rather than an issue with the game.
I ain’t had one problem with freezes.
Maybe, think I’ll dig out my warranty and get it changed just to be on the safe side.
But having said that I can wander around towns and the fields between towns for hours and have no problems. It only ever crashes when I go into caves/dungeons…
Mreh. Fable II is amazing, but the Abbot glitch has me stuck. Kinda irritated about that, so I’ve been reeling in the cash via the Pub Games, so I guess not all is lost. I wish Lionhead would hurry up with the fix, though, been waiting for ages.
when are they going to get the patch out for the abbot glitch
i have a similer glitch… the commisian a statue quest is stuck, and ive tried everything, i cant teleport out of the city cus it says to wait for the scene, cant kill the quest giver, and cant get off the damn stair thing cus the whenever i press A to vault it goes into the hold A for accepting the quest, so basicly im stuck on the damn stairs….posing doesnt finish the quest and cant do anything :’(
