Working Man’s Review - Tom Clancy’s EndWar

Welcome to the first ever Working Man’s Review. This review is different than the reviews that you’ll see other places because I understand how valuable your time, sleep, and money is. I have a family and I work a full-time (sometimes it’s more like a fuller-time) job. So, should you spend your limited amount of funds and ditch the fam for a few hours for EndWar? Well, that’s why I’m here and that’s why you should read on.

Alright, I’m looking for a game that you can throw in the box for a few minutes and that you can get a good level of satisfaction out of with very little input. I mean, seriously, what adult has time for one of those games that boasts 100+ hours of gameplay? I have responsibilities! So is EndWar a game that allows you to scratch that proverbial gaming itch when it needs a good scratchin’–you betcha!

The game is not real story driven. While I love a good story, it’s not one of those games that if you get into the busy time at work and you can’t come back to it for a month, you’ll have forgotten everything that you did and then need to spend another month trying to figure out who has the “boots of flying” and why you even need some aeronautical footwear. You can put this game in whenever you want and pick up right where you left off.

The voice controls are fantastic and make you feel like you’re really commanding troops into battle and forget that you can’t even successfully command your children to eat their dinner. A match can last a good 20 minutes and sometimes, that’s all you have to give. It’s nice that have some feeling of completion in that short amount of time.

So, I say give it a whirl. It’s a fun game and one that actually rewards you for yelling at your Xbox (seeing as how we all do it anyway). Besides, after a tough day at work, isn’t it satisfying to drop a nuclear bomb on someone? That was a great review; Short, to the point, and humorous. Seriously, give that guy a raise! Oh, and kudos on the Morrowind reference. That brought back some memories!

No, that’s my other Xboxic account.

Are you doing Call of Duty: World at War?

I’ll try and get to it, yes.

That review was so bad, I think reading it gave me cancer.

Seriously, go into your kitchen right now, find a colorful bottle of liquid under the sink, and just consume all of it. Please. All of it.

It’s not polite to project your fantasies onto other people, Outhouse.

Now go play. The adults are talking.

We can but live in hope.

I played through the Endwar beta. I recommend you rent it first. I wouldn’t buy it. Voice commands work good, game itself is not that good.

Ditto on that.

I tried the demo and wasn’t impressed. The voice command feature was kind of cool at first, but got old quickly (for me).

I’d much rather spend my time exploring the wasteland in FO3.

I personally think this is a great concept and I really liked the review!!!! I’m married with a young daughter and I appreciate this kind of perspective. These young kids don’t get it sometimes. I have FO3 and love it…but it’s hard to get really into it when you have less than an hour per day.
