New game using Avatars to arrive with NXE

One thing that MS did not cut from the launch of the New Xbox Experience is a new game for the XBLA. The game, titled Kingdom for Keflings, was announced earlier this year. Kept under wraps until now is the fact that the game will fully incorporate your Avatar as the character you play in the game. The title looks very fun, that is assuming you would enjoy stomping people the size of your shoe. Hit the jump for all the deets.

The game is developed by the people behind Band of Bugs, Cloning Clyde and Outpost Kaloki X, NinjaBee. Kingdom for Keflings will be available on XBLA on the day NXE launches, November 19th. Unlike other games confirmed to incorporate avatars, this game will actually use them. Check out these screeshots recently released from the game, showing your personalized Avatar as the main character in the game.

WTF is a Kefling?
Whatever they are, this looks life fun.

The game is a city building simulator, along the same lines as the Sim City series. Your Avatar is a giant in the land of the Keflings, and you are tasked with building a kingdom for the loving lemmings denizens. Confused? This gameplay video released earlier this year should clear the haze.

The game, priced at 800 MS Points, will be entertaining in that if you are annoyed with your Keflings, you can give them a gigantic boot in their arse. And most likely to the rest of their tiny bodies as well. Other gameplay details released include:

  • You play a giant.
  • You have he ability to micromanage you Keflings, telling them to chop wood, sit still, etc.
  • Ability to customize the buildings you create, to make them more “yours”.
  • Online co-operative play with up to 3 friends via XBL.
  • Animation graphics and soundstracks that change dynamically with the changing of seasons in your kingdom.

So, considering this is the first title to functionally incorporate avatars into a game, will you be picking up this game?

Yeah, but at least it wasn’t homophobic.

The ninjabee animation made me want to build a sturdy ship and sail it out to sea. When I’d think mine anguish gone, I’d find it’d followed me.

I’m not sure, if I was a Giant I’d have those damn keflings work for me instead of the other way around :)

BUT YOU PLAY A GIANT THAT CAN KICK KEFLINGS!!!!

caps aside, that really is a game feature.

I may pick the game up just to play with my avatar (that sounds a little wrong)
