The CoD2 Prophecy has been fulfilled!
After over two months of rumors and speculation, the day noone thought would ever come is now upon thee: booting up Call of Duty 2 will get you a new multiplayer patch from Xbox Live immediately. And even more surprising, it actually seems to solve all the problems players have been experiencing!
Confirmed by our initial testing:
- Can actually host a game now.
- Lobbies fully implemented including game options and pre-game smack talk.
- Hoster can kick players.
- Private matches are allowed.
- You can select any map of choice.
- Score and time limits configurable.
- Post-game lobby after the game is over.
- Can invite players to game.
- You can see enemy names in-game.
- No noticeable lag continuously disrupting games.
It almost looks like they made a multiplayer game out of it! So, anyone wanna play some GRAW now or were people still actually waiting for this?

Pity. I traded COD2 in for GRAW last week because I was sick of waiting for this seemingly never-coming patch to show up.
Frankly, I’ll never buy another Infinity Ward game in my life, unless it’s something really special and verified by countless gamers to be free of the sort of idiotic flaws they took so long to fix in this game.,

Main reason for the lag was the lack of proper host selection though, so logically it would have to be fixed if people with good connections can opt themselves to be the host, instead of the game automatically seleciting the dialup connection from the Philippines by default as it used to.
I also traded in COD2 for GRAW. I will also not ever by a Infinity Ward game again either. Stupid asses at Infinity Ward.

I am SO glad I sold COD2 while I could get $35 back for it. Now I can go play GRAW. And yes, it’s a different game altogether, but it’s one I’m not complaining about. The same couldn’t be said for COD2 since NOVEMBER of 2005!

Only a few months of your life waiting and the game has been updated. Don’t understand what all the ‘I never buy/never play IW games again’ really come from.
It’s still a good game, totally different then GRAW, so I say: it’s great that it’s finally here. Where has the time gone that people appreciated something more if it took long to finish/get it?

Ok has this been happening to anyone? I ‘X’d out the maps that I didn’t want to play, then I went to deathmatch and when I got into a game it was one of the maps that I de-selected. I thought I wasn’t supposed to get those?? Also when I make a private match and leave all the slots open to the public, my friends can come in but no one from the public joined and I waited for like 20 minutes.. any help?

who cares?!?!?! too late for them, most fps enthusiasts are already playing GRAW [which should be game of the year if you ask me]. I’m not buying any more of the call of duty series and probably won’t buy anything from activision anymore.
poor judgement on their part because i know i’m not the only one feeling this way. they were too late to act on the customers requests for lag-free gaming and so now any patch they’ve released is far too late. if you don’t have ghost recon by now, you NEED to get it.

Ok stop whining, it’s a free update that makes the game better, yeah it’s too late but it’s not like it’s a hassle to just download it. And it’s ok to play both Ghost Recon and Call of Duty, I play them both and they’re both cool, I like CoD better now that this patch has come out, multiplayer is more fun. But i’m having the same problems as Guy up there, anybody have solutions??

COD2 is great… at least for the PC — I havent experienced any problems with it since it came out… sucks for you xbox people

blah blah blah cod2 has been dead for what atleast three months now and four if you count release date.
ive just played it, now the lags gone its a class game, i wish theyd sorted this from the start though, the few hours ive had on it have been good and lag free,, the reason why public wont join the game is that they cant, its for freinds of freinds!! Enjoy ppl, also if anyone wants a game

Same problem with CoD2: put a X on levels i don’t like, went to random deathmatch and got one of those levels, anyone know how to play a random deathmatch where youre not the host but not getting the unwanted maps??

Ah, the joys of console gaming. I have always enjoyed the accuracy of the dual joysticks (sarcasm).

Well I’m glad they finally fixed the online issues. It’s a lot more fun to play now. I don’t think it is or was dead. Just people waiting for them to fix issues, least patient people. And yes lagg isn’t a problem anymore. As it states in the last line of fixes. I’ve played over 30 games with multiple different hosts with 0 lagg. Just glad IW got their stuff together and kept their promise, in spite of all the critisism. See ya all in game!

Seriously…I was kidding. I just love the way some people express theyre way on the net.
Just like to say glad I didn’t give up on the game! sure it was a long and hard wait, but from what I have seen now is a sure pay off. Multiplayer is far improved and as for lag what lag if just a msec here and there, nothing really to complain about… And yes I have also seen the problem with the map de-selection, not sure about that one! maybe it only works in private games, and not when you select player or ranked matches?
But I’m sure this is a great stop gam for the mean time, as let’s face it… It’s never been so good.
