The last couple of years at E3 have been a major scale down over recent years, though this year it seems like the convention is returning to its big bad self. Arguably the best part of all this is the recent news that the Entertainment Software Association has allowed exhibitors to again use booth babes to
give us something nice to look at draw some extra attention themselves again this year. Yay!
Back in 2006, a strict dress code was enforced effectively banning booth babes. The official rules at the time read:
Material, including live models, conduct that is sexually explicit and/or sexually provocative, including but not limited to nudity, partial nudity and bathing suit bottoms, are prohibited on the Show floor, all common areas, and at any access points to the Show, ESA, in its sole discretion, will determine whether material is acceptable.
disobeying these rules would result in one warning, fail to hide all the skin and be fined 5000 USD on the spot. Any offending models would be re-clothed immediately, what men could bring themselves to do that?
Since then E3 heavily downsized to make publishers focus on their products over elaborate set-ups with half naked women parading around to draw people in. Only this year, E3 is back, and it seems horny. The ESA estimate around 40,000 trade-only visitors will attend.
Are sexy girls exactly what E3 needs to get it back on track? Who knows, but it will definitely make it nicer to watch.
