Tony Hawk: Ride with wireless skateboard
Activision have officially revealed that the upcoming ‘Tony Hawk: Ride’ game will come complete with a wireless motion sensing skateboard that will use smart in built sensors to detect movement and allow you to control the game without the need for a control pad. Tony Hawk himself has commented stating that playing on the board is unlike any other game and he implied it gives gamers a real chance to experience the true feeling of skateboarding.
Well unless this new device has wheels I doubt it is very much true to the real feeling of skateboarding, but controlling the game by board movement using its accelerometers sure has to be a more precise way than a controller - right?
With Activision wanting to take the game in a new direction, it is also being developed by a brand new company Robomodo, formed by previous teams who have worked on Mortal Kombat, NBA Street, and Fight Night franchises. Robomodo have taken over the development of this game where as previous titles were created by Neversoft and it is predicted the game will be released sometime this year on the Xbox360, PS3, Wii & PC.
No exact date or pricing details have yet been revealed.
What are your thoughts on the wireless motion sensing skateboard complete with ultra modern accelerometers?

Erm…thanks for the offer…. but pretty sure i’ll be washing my hair that night.
Tony Hawk has to know that no matter what he does, his game will never be better than the skate series. Remember Tony, “It’s better to burn out, than fade away.”
I’d like to give this a go, but I bet it will be so overpriced! They should allow it to be used in other games too, I want to try skateboarding in Call of Duty as a running mode, imagine that!
