Xbox 360 launches in Australia and New Zealand

The wait for gamers down under is finally over, the Xbox 360 has launched in over 350 stores ‘down under’. The official launch in Sydney was accompanied by cheerleaders, street performers and a radio station. There were about a 1000 gamers waiting to get their white new gadget in Sydney’s Pitt Mall Street. David McLean, director of Xbox Australia, was equally excited; “Xbox 360 will make more money on day one than iPod, Harry Potter books, the Lord of the Rings movies, or ticket sales for U2. Put simply this is set to be the biggest Australian entertainment launch of all time,†he said.

There are 21 launch games available at the moment in Australia, retailing for a recommended retail price of $99.95 per game. The Xbox 360 Premium packages costs $649.95 and a core package sells for $499,95.

Does that mean that we will play them online now or will they have a seperate Live server for Oceana?

I think we can still play them, giving that some aussie was on Halo 2, but that was ‘Last Gen’ Xbox-live, so I don’t know now.

By the way, I am English/British.

@Anthony ; d’oh, fixed.
