Xbox Live Community Games Rebranded
Microsoft have announced that they will soon be changing the name of the ‘Community Games’ area on Xbox Marketplace to ‘Indie Games’, the name change was in response to the XNA community feedback to increase understanding and promotion of the games.
Microsoft Statement:
The launch of XNA Game Studio 3.1 begins the process of renaming Xbox LIVE Community Games to Xbox LIVE Indie Games. We’re starting the communication about this transition with you – our incredible Creators. With your help hopefully this name change (along with other new features such as User Ratings!) will increase understanding and discoverability of your games! Late July, when we update Creators Club Online, we will begin revealing the name change to the Consumer side of our business. We believe this name better represents the independent spirit of XNA Game Studio gaming and creations!
It’s worth keeping in mind that later in the year a new ratings system will be in place where the Xbox Live community can rate anything and everything available on Xbox Live Marketplace. At least if something is totally crap, or outstandingly good we can share it with feedback to influence what we spend our money on.

Xboxic, no - we havn’t bought any community games recently. Guess why? Well, they aren’t available in Scandinavia - at all, just like the Movie Marketplace. We can’t even see it on the Dashboard.
But then again, why care about anything besides the US?
well you haven’t exactly missed out to be honest with community games - and you’re getting streaming movies this year too…
You realize that Xboxic is a Dutch site, right? You can even download an extension for Firefox that shows you the little Dutch flag next to the url.

Mines just has the little Xboxic logo, oooooo the choices I have to make now, Dutch flag, stick with the logo, where to go next.
Ah fuck it, i’ll just download a couple of community games and a movie instead of worrying about it.

I have never bought any community games. They are so under promoted on Xbox Live I usually don’t even think of them. I bought the Golf Tee It Up on the arcade when it was on sale. After that I found out about Easy Golf a community game. Had that been promoted I would have bought it instead since it has a course editor and tons of user created courses.
I hate them - always have, I once thought nothing could beat the sheer shit of some crap sudoku and rumble massage thing, then along came Plasma Break-in… 200 MS points for a program to show you a red, green and blue screen!
Indie is still not a good enough word for it, community games/Indie shit should be scrapped
They should rename the community games as ‘Shitty shit’
