The galactica game brings an experience that is out of this world!

Pixel Equity, helping children play video games

Video gaming is a fun and enriching activity, but it remains out of reach for many. Games cost upwards of $50 and consoles cost hundreds, so it’s no surprise that large groups of young people who are interested in playing video games never get the chance. It’s sometimes hard to think that there really are people who have never experienced Call of Duty - gaming is an expensive hobby that many of us take for granted.

Poor Kids

Pixel Equity are trying to help Youth Centres around the US by distributing donated video games and consoles so that under-privileged children of all ages get an opportunity to experience the joy of gaming. In other words, Pixel Equity is a not-for-profit organisation that connects those who want to share video games with those who want to play them.

Pixel Equity was launched today 16th June 09 and was founded by Matthew Badalucco, who has been a life long gamer.

I’m a lifelong gamer who especially values the cultural exchange aspect of the medium. Through gaming, I was introduced at a young age to Japanese culture specifically and Asian culture generally. I went on to graduate with cum laude honors from Dartmouth College in 2005 where I studied International Relations and East Asia. I’ve interned at the Hong Kong office of BNP Paribas and at the American Institute in Taiwan. Later, I worked as an investment banking analyst at Lehman Brothers and, most recently, was an assistant portfolio manager at Sandell Asset Management. In April, I started this organization and can’t wait to see where it goes.

It’s a simple operation where gamers can donate their old games that they no longer play to help benefit children and teens or donations from as little as $1 can be made as a contribution to help fund purchasing games.

Do you think this is a good idea as it’s a first of its kind, would you part with your old game instead of trading it?
