Last.fm on Xbox360 to be ad-supported

Last.fm is a UK-based Internet radio and music community website, founded in 2002. It claims over 30 million active users based in more than 200 countries use the service which will shortly be available on the Xbox360 console as part of some new summer features alongside twitter and facebook.

Last.fm coming to Xbox360

More details have been available which claims that while Gold subscribers will be able to use the last.fm service for free 24 hours a day, Silver members might get just three hours per month of it. Both Gold and Silver subscribers to Live will have ad-supported access with Silver users only have a limited monthly trial.

There will also be a premium subscription based service from Last.fm, that will be ad free and will also have more sophisticated personalisation features such as ‘Loved’ Tracks. Pricing details for the console subscription has not yet been revealed, but on the last.fm website an ad free service is £3/$3 per month.

Last.fm on the Xbox Live Dashboard has not been dated.

so it says that Gold members will be able to stream 24/7. And the last paragraph says “Pricing details for the console subscription has not yet been revealed” So does that mean its subscription based or free? The wording is confusing.

I think it’s pretty clear that the premium subscription service from Last.fm means for an ad free service. Last.fm will be free 24/7 for Gold members on Live but they will have advertising support. To remove the advertising and have more features you will need to pay an extra monthly fee on top of your gold subscription.

“Summer features”? I wouldn’t want to question you guys (or your sources), but I was under the impression that all these new cool features would be rolled out later this year… oh well, I’d be glad to be wrong on this one :).

The Xbox 360:s future is looking really bright! Last.fm, Twitter, Facebook, Video Marketplace… and maybe - just maybe - also 1 vs 100 in the European Union! :)

1 vs 100 is coming to the EU its just select countries though, its not coming to Sweden I don’t think.

I want to come to Sweden though… it looks nice!

Guess it can’t be that nice, highest suicide rate in Europe I am told.

Yeah I bet that’s cos people in Sweden constantly moan about what they haven’t got rather than appreciate what they have got…

This was the top story on my Google News! Good work Jason!!

cheers :)

will last.fm stream in the background while you play games or browse the dash such as accessing Facebook or Twitter? You know, just like streaming from your PC?

Super, welcome to super laggy gaming folks. All we need now is a MSN messenger and Facebook to run in the background.

MSN messenger can already be run in the background with no problem.
