Dead Island is still in development
Dead Island is an upcoming first person shooter which is being developmed by Techland for the Xbox360, PS3 & PC. We last reported on this game 2 years ago and the main plot centers around survival on a zombie-infested island. The publishers have placed an embargo on this games news and wish not to reveal themselves as the publishers for the time being.
Speaking to G4TV, a member of the Development Team Blazej Krakowiak stated:
“All we are allowed to say is that the game is in development and doing great and that all future updates regarding the game will come directly from the publisher,”
Current Known Gameplay Features are:
- The game features a sandbox style gameplay on a tropical island separated by loading screens.
- The game features a multilayer damage system.
- There is a number of human factions that the player can join or be hostile with, these include the Military and Bandits.
- The main zombies are the George A Romero’s slow walking zombies, but there is however more than one type of zombie.
- The game is more focused on melee combat, the player can pick up almost anything and use it as a weapon, (e.g. picking up a glass cup on a table and throwing it at a zombie) there are firearms but ammo will be hard to find to give the game more of a survival horror feel.
- There may be multiple endings
Despite the publishers wishing to stay tight lipped on their identity, at least we now know progress is being made on the games development.
If this could ever rival ‘Dead Rising’ only time will tell.

This might have come out too late to be of interest to most people I think! Resi 5 and Dead Rising 2 all being released! But I mayb interested when it comes out I am a massive Romero fan so it has a plus side.
I was hoping for more of a Far Cry with Zombies deal. Sniping zombies, torching zombies, blowing zombies’ heads off with a magnum…
Seriously, though. Loading screens? They can do better than that.
It looks like i would enjoy this game a lot, sort of sounds like fallout and dead rising mixed together.
