Plants vs. Zombies is a tower defense video game developed and published by PopCap Games who have also brought us Bejeweled and Peggle. As with most other tower defense games, this involves each playable character having their own unique special abilities - in this instance you play as different plants.

The working title of this game was originally ‘Lawn of the Dead’ since the objective of the game is to save the residents of a house from a horde of Zombies with the plants using their abilities as a means of defense. Due to legal reasons the title was changed to ‘Plants vs Zombies’ because of the similarity with the movie titled ‘Dawn of the Dead’.

Puzzles in the game include:

• “All your brains r belong to us”, a reference to ‘All your base are belong to us’ meme
• “Dead Zeppelin”, a reference to the band Led Zeppelin
• “Big Trouble Little Zombie”, a reference to the film Big Trouble in Little China
• “Ace of Vase”, a reference to the band Ace of Base
• “Scary Potter”, a reference to the series Harry Potter
• “Portal Combat”, a reference to the video games Mortal Kombat and Portal
• “I, Zombie”, a reference to the short story and film I, Robot.

• Towering Wisdom: Grow the Tree of Wisdom to 100 feet.
• Nobel Peas Prize: Get the golden sunflower trophy.
• Better Off Dead: Get to a streak of 10 in I,Zombie Endless.
• China Shop: Get to a streak of 15 in Vasebreaker Endless.
• Immortal: Get to 20 flags in Survival Endless.
• Cryptozombologist: Discover the top secret zombie.
• Walk This Way: Hypnotize the lead dancer zombie.
• Spudow!: Blow up a zombie using a potato mine.
• Explodonator: Blow up 10 zombies with a single cherry bomb.
• Ask Me About Mustache Mode: Enable Mustache Mode.

No confirmed pricing details or release date has yet been made available, the 12 achievements are subject to change since it is unknown if XBLA will carry over the same 12 achievements PopCap have recently added to the game on the PC Steam Version.
