The Big Avatar Marketplace Blunder
A little over a week ago we posted information about the ‘Xbox Live Update Preview Program’ where gamers were given an opportunity to preview the upcoming August 11th dash update. Shortly after the first wave of emails were sent out only the other day, within the hour consoles were updated, fully functioning with a new Avatar Marketplace. Now only a few days into the preview, the biggest blunder in the update is that people have found a way to obtain all Avatar Marketplace items for free!
Since all items of clothing and props require you to purchase them with Microsoft points where you then receive a download file to your HDD or Memory Card you would think obtaining these items would be somewhat technical, challenging or down right impossible. In fact it seems that Microsoft may as well be giving them away since obtaining anything you want from the avatar marketplace is just a matter of changing a file name.
Since Xboxic does not wish to promote methods which could potentially get you banned from Xbox Live, we will not disclose the exact details. Instead we are merely exposing the sheer stupidity on the part of Microsoft where obtaining Avatar Marketplace items just involves buying one small item, finding it on your HDD or Mem card and then changing the file name to that of the item you want. This can be done each time you want a new item without having to pay for it so long as you know the filenames of the other items.
Will this get patched - only time will tell!

Hmm while I’m not going to do this I got accepted into the preview and thought it was a total joke releasing this marketplace. They didn’t even give us in the preview program any props for free. You want a halo shirt? That’ll be 80 points, props and outfits are 160 points. I’ll never buy virtual junk for my avatar at those prices. Cheapest thing was a ring you can’t even see for 40 pts.

Hardly anything has changed, apart from the Avatar Market place. What happened to the Netflix and the Sky player!?
What I want to know is how the awards work! I can’t get anything to appear.

Sorry to say, Microsoft still ignores the European Union about Netflix suggesting that they don’t have the resources to sign the necessary contracts for us. That’s why you still don’t get Netflix…
I got in the preview program and noticed there isn’t a lot new as well. I noticed that the prices for the avatar stuff is OUTRAAGEOUS

I just heard on the Xbox.com forums that if you revert to a silver account, even for a day, this resets the number. I had to go silver for a week last month while I paid off my car insurance. Lame!
I have a number 2 next to my name, what does that mean?!
It means two years of constant Gold membership. I’ve read that if you are silver for less then 2 weeks it will keep your #.
Ive been silver for months and i still have my 2, i guess it doesn’t matter how long you have been silver.
