Hackers bombard 1 vs 100

During the latest prize winning games of 1 vs 100 over the weekend it was exploited by a series of hackers and modders using the name ‘Defensive’ in their gamertags. As well as trying to take over the mob, they had managed to become ‘The One’ four times!

Statement from Video:

“It’s cause me and my mates are hackers. We like, you know, how to fix it. So erm if you ever see anyone with Defensive before there name then it is my or one of my mates. We’ve been The One and in the Mob, four times as The One.”

Whilst playing Live I had even heard James McCourt (UK Live Host), question why so many players had the ‘Defensive’ title this evening and had encouraged gamers to come forward by email with an explanation. Many of the gamers had no gamerscore and with exploiters taking advantage of the system still in Beta - we can only hope that Microsoft find a solution to the problem.

“Mates”? Lemme guess - the hacker in question was a British “bloke”?

What’s wrong with a simple “pal”, “buddy” or even “dude”? To me (being of Scandinavian origin), the word “mate” belongs to the animal kingdom (but then again, so do hackers).

I dunno why people find the need to break shit for fun.
I guess it’s that 7th grade writing assignment of ‘Knowledge’ vs. ‘Wisdom’ all over again. Sure, they’re smart enough to break the code…

But they’re still fucking morons if they deem disrupting the legitimate enjoyment of hundreds of others, on purpose, as a ‘fun’ thing to do.

“dude” is a stupid american word.
“me and my dudes” sounds ridiculous.
I’m from the UK, mates and pals are used all the time and I don’t see anything wrong with it. Buddy sounds like primary school stuff, where you have the buddy system to help out younger bullied kids.

a lot of scotch men say ‘pal’ I notice…

And that’s why you say “my friends and I”.

Well, Dude by itself is okay, but I’ve never once heard anyone actually say “me and my dudes.” I’ve heard “Me and my bros” plenty though.

Okay there is something wrong with the Comment submits, I wanted to reply to KevG.

I also wanted to say I’m glad that they hacked it now in the Beta instead of the real thing. I think they’re stupid like that, I mean you don’t get any prizes anyway (do you?).

All this slang talk aside these guys are assholes. It will probably cause Microsoft to stop the live prizes. But the good side of it is they will find this exploit and fix it. The people responsible will most likely end up with their consoles banned from Live as well.

Yes prizes have been live for a while now during their “live” events which is Friday and Saturday nights. You can win like 10,000 MS points if you defeat the mob. You can easily win 1200-1600 if you are picked to be the one and aren’t retarded.

As I like you I won’t flip out about this one but please understand that we are Scots, Scotch is a drink.

Grrrr, that was in reply to Jay.

@ Glovner: Yeah I am always corrected when I say Scotch…think I’d know better since a whole half of my family live in Ayrshire!

Scottish, not Scotch. Scotch is used to refer to eggs and whiskey. Not people.

And, pal is certainly a term of endearment, but if used in Glasgow, then you should watch your back because the person who called you “pal” probably doesn’t like you. “Mate” yes, “Pal” no. Not a hard and fast rule, more a rule of thumb.

I live in Glasgow, by the way… mate.

Really?

I live in Edinburgh, pal.

I used to work in Edinburgh at the Gyle, until last year. Small world.

Well atleast they can work on a way to fix the problem while it’s still in Beta. Too bad Gears of War 2 couldn’t fix the problems with cheaters, etc. before hand. Seeing as they had no Beta….
