Microsoft to release separate 250GB HDD
Normally only found as part of some super limited edition console deal, the 250GB Hard drive for the Xbox360 was last found attached to the ‘Modern Warfare 2′ and ‘Forza 3′ console bundles. The good news is that it will now be released as a stand alone accessory, but the bad news is only in Japan!

Microsoft have stated that it has no current plans to put it on sale as a stand-alone unit outside of Japan, said Kei Iwasaki, a Microsoft spokesman in Tokyo.
The new drive more than doubles storage capacity from the 120GB drive available on the current Xbox 360 Elite console and is set to be released in Japan on March 11th.
The new 250GB HDD will cost ¥15,540 ($172.10) and if it is important for you to have such a device, would you consider import, or just wait for a possible local release in the future?

Is it possible to get a compatible HDD and place it inside an Xbox 360 HDD-case, just like you can do with the 120 GB drive?
Its not easily possible, but there have been hacking methods used to do it if you search google. It is extremely complicated, voids warranty & could get your console banned from Xbox Live - so not really worth it. For me though I dont think I will ever need more storage than the 120GB HDD that came with my Elite

“640 kb should be enough for everyone”
Your warnings are duly noted, however. Thank you.
