2K Sports offers $1Million Prize in MLB 2K10

2K Sports have pitched a challenge offering gamers the chance to win an unprecedented cash prize of $1,000,000 to the first person who throws a verified perfect game in Major League Baseball 2K10. Just imagine what you could do with a million dollars?

Fans will be able to participate in the $1,000,000 Major League Baseball 2K10 contest beginning on March 2, 2010 at 12:01 AM PST, and ending on May 1, 2010 at 11:59 PM PDT. To compete, gamers must play in MLB Today mode, select from any of the available matchups, and then choose the option to participate in the ‘Major League Baseball 2K10 contest’ that will automatically default to the proper gameplay settings according to the official gameplay rules.

To clear up confusion, 2K Sports defines a “perfect game” as one without any pitcher substitutions in the game play, no pauses during play, no delays of more than 60 seconds between pitches, and no mound visits from the coach. All 27 batters in nine innings must be retired without letting any one reach base.

“You don’t see too many perfect games thrown in MLB 2K, but we’ve seen it happen,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing at 2K Sports. “Our goal is to celebrate and highlight Major League Baseball 2K10’s superior pitching and hitting mechanics this season, while also giving one of our loyal fans the thrilling opportunity to be rewarded with a lot of money.”

“Every baseball fan knows pitching a perfect game is one of the most difficult and rarest accomplishments in all of sports, and that’s what makes this million dollar contest so compelling,” said Evan Longoria, All-Star third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays and cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K10. “This is the chance of a lifetime, and I’m excited to see fans really try to go for it in Major League Baseball 2K10. I just hope they don’t try against the Rays, because my teammates and I aren’t going to make it easy on them.”

Entries must be recorded via camera or digital video recorder in compliance with guidelines provided by 2K in the Official Rules, and all eligible entrants must submit a copy of their recording in its entirety for verification. Submissions will only be accepted on DVD. The competition is open to Xbox360 & PS3 gamers.

More information about the $1,000,000.00 Major League Baseball 2K10 contest can be found on the official website which details further on the official rules and submission process.

If you do enter and are fortunate enough to win a million - a donate button is placed at the bottom of the page should you be feeling a little generous.
