Bad Company 2 moves more than 2 million units
We can already hear champagne bottles popping hot on the heels of the announcement of Electronic Arts and its subsidiary DICE that the latest iteration in the Battlefield series, titled Bad Company 2, is a commercial hit, with over 2.3 million units sold on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC in its two weeks on the market. It’s not even close to the humongous commercial success enjoyed by its shooter rival, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but it’s a remarkable achievement nonetheless.
According to EA’s own internal data, the Bad Company sequel is well on track to become the top selling game for March. In addition to boasting the game’s very warm critical reception, the publisher has also gathered the following numbers to further prove its point:
- 81B points have been earned in online multiplayer sessions
- 43M weapons and gadgets have been unlocked in online multiplayer
- Over 6M video views on YouTube
- 2.9M hours have been spent playing online in the last 24 hours alone
- 230K peak-concurrent-users (PCUs)
- Over 44k Twitter fans (most out of any EA title)
Big high fives all around then! It’ll be interesting to see Major Nelson’s Top Xbox Live titles list in the coming weeks, as Bad Company 2’s online activity swings into high gear.

I love MW2, but there’s no doubt in my mind that BC2 is far better balanced, and overall more fun. I prefer team efforts over MW2’s series of 1v1 duels. One player can’t go around and just dominate the entire game… and sniper rifles aren’t close range weapons.
I play both, but am having more fun on BC2. I don’t think it will pass MW2 in retail sales, but it could compete in users online on any given day. I have had a lot of friends ask me about it, but very few have bought it yet.
Yah this game blows MW2 out of the water IMO. It probably won’t outsell it though because it won’t appeal to the millions of people that are determined to fight solo. You can’t do that on this game. If you don’t use teamwork you WILL lose.
This is one the best game I have play especally with XBOX live. Bad Company 2 is better than Bad Company 1
Now if only they could get the DLC sorted…
superb game i used to play battlefield 2 on the pc and this is easily as good best team multiplayer game out there mw2 is still very good but faster paced than bc2 not as strategic they are different enough to warrant owning both
