Fable III to take it slow during opening moments
What most games do in their introduction is show the player the ropes to the basics of combat, starting with simple tasks like drilling through pink corals in Bioshock 2 or beating the hell out of a smattering of monsters with the basic sword attack in Darksiders. While some games do take their time in this area for the sake of immersion, like for example Mass Effect 2, no game in recent memory has taken a long half an hour for the player to get to try out the combat like Fable III is en route to later this year.
Expressing his concern on Twitter, Lionhead’s Creative Director Peter Molyneux shared the following: “Been playing the opening of Fable III, I am slightly worried that there is no combat for the first 30 mins. Is this too long? Thoughts.”
Naturally, if the first half an hour of a game is filled to the brim with cut scenes, few players would endure through it, so it all boils down to what the player will be doing in that time in Fable III. Since the Molynator revealed that gathering support from fellow residents will be an integral part in the first half of the game, our bet is we’ll be making a lot promises.
Would a combat-less half an hour experience in the beginning turn you off from buying Fable III? Let us know in the comments below.

30 minutes without any action - that’s like they’re finally making a game about 7 years in Tibet.
Have you ever played a half-life game, you don’t get as gun for about half an hour.
Hence, no game in recent memory
Peter Molyneux is what turns me off Fable III. Has one of his games EVER lived up to the Hype….NO!!!
Doesn’t bother me… the original Fable was the same way, and I enjoyed the opening.
I just wished you could skip all that when making a new character.
My thoughts exactly.
I never played Fable II so I dont even know what goes on in these games. Call of Duty has destroyed my life for years - it’s only now that I am opening myself up to new exciting gaming experiences
Fable III looks good to me, I am pre-ordering
Sounds good, you guys must realize that video games are supossed to be immerse, if you have action straight away, then what does that tell you?
A game that will sacrifice its soul for blood, like a satanist.
Don’t worry guys, Molyneux knows how to make a good game, its just you guys like to pick at games so much, that we all forget what game truly are, something you can enjoy and experience, if you guys just want blood and action, what a horror film, because fable III isn’t about action, its about being something you will never been in reality, a king.
