Super Street Fighter IV Gets Final, Final Boxart

Normally we don’t see any reason to post something about the boxart by itself. In my years as a gaming journalist, I can’t recall ever getting an email or hearing someone claim that without seeing the art on the box, it would make or break their decision on whether they purchase or play a certain title.

This time, it’s a little bit different. Capcom originally sent out a boxart image back in late January, and for myself was all but forgotten. Somewhere, there was a swell of voices claiming they either liked or disliked the design. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, Capcom listened. They went back to the drawing board (no pun intended) and redesigned the box and have now released what they call the Final Final Boxart. Now if we could just get publishers and developers to listen about what’s important, the game itself.

Original - Updated

Both boxarts have been posted so you can compare. So everyone is happy now, right? I know better than that, there are those who you just can’t please. So what’s your thoughts? Leave a comment below.

Original NA box art looks good / balanced yet dynamic. New art with Dudley seems overwrought, background adds heaviness to the design when it should be more about movement around the image.

Japanese cover would be better as an B5 poster, nice concept but colours and spacing / visual interest I actually go for the original NA cover. Poor guy whoever worked on it.!
