THQ Planning $40m Natal Game
With Natal being revealed soon, a lot of new information is coming from all directions. Will it be expensive? Will it be more than just a simple Wii-clone? If it’s up to THQ it will be! They are even thinking of making a 40 million dollar game to show that Natal is really what Microsoft’s promised us from the get go. What sort of game will it be and will it be a day 1 release? Read on for the juicy stuff.
Danny Bilson, THQ’s core games VP, had the following to say about his big project:
“I have some concepts and some ideas that use Natal in a core game in a really, really cool way. But I don’t think the install base is there because the game I’m thinking about is a $30m/$40m Natal game and the install base isn’t there yet to support that.”
But don’t get to excited yet, because it could take a while before the game sees the light of day, as Danny mentioned:
“The concept I have uses every corner of that tech and maybe in a couple of years we’ll do it.”

But wait, there’s more because he also added:
“So there’s core potential there but on the creative side I’m absolutely focused on core… so an idea I have for that, aside for the one that we have, is a big core game.”
“I think we have to wait a little bit just for the install base to justify spending a ton of money. Because my idea is a really expensive idea.”
With this million dollar project still in the fridge, THQ is not ignoring Natal because Bilson revealed that THQ has one “awesome” Natal game coming this year that Microsoft’s “really excited about,” plus “a bunch” of family and kids games which will probably get announced at E3 when Natal reveals its games.
Family and kids games is what Natal will be best at, but is it also ready for core games, like the one THQ is planning? What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below.
