As if gamers need anymore persuading that Halo: Reach currently stands as the most anticipated game this year, Microsoft have announced the release of a live-action short to be broadcast this week.
Entitled “Birth of a Spartan”, the minute long video is said to act as an origin story for Carter 259, the Noble Team leader in the upcoming game in the Halo franchise. Fans will learn of his bravery and dedication to the human cause, as well as the painful bio-augmentation procedure he underwent to become a Spartan.
The short will premiere in the UK following the Champions League semi-final between Lyon and Bayern Munich this Tuesday 27th April on Sky Sports 2. The film will also become available on here the same day. For those who miss its first TV outing, ITV1 will air Birth of a Spartan the following night once the Barcelona vs Inter Milan semi-final has concluded.
Possibly confused by Britain’s love for all things “soccer”, North American fans will be able to catch the short as part of Iron Man 2’s trailers when it is released this weekend.
If, by some unholy miracle, you happen to miss this onslaught of all things Reach, an exclusive extended version of Birth of a Spartan will be available for Xbox Live Gold Members on April 28th. The short will also air on multiple shows across sixteen other U.K. and U.S. TV networks, including Comedy Central, Spike TV, Bravo, FX, TNT and TBS over the next week.
