Gears of War 3: Story Details

Following the ‘Gears of War 3′ magazine scans that Xboxic previously posted that contained plenty of spoilers, but in Russian! Today, some of the members on Epic’s official forum website have managed to translate parts of the best bits as detailed below.

The Gears of War 3 storyline is set 18 months after the final events of Gears 2. In the months since the flooding of the planet, humanity’s government has collapsed, the remnants of the species fleeing to the seas, splitting up into “tribes” and taking care of themselves. One of the outposts is called “Raven’s Nest”, a large man-made floating island built of several warships joined together. It is believed that most of the gameplay takes place on and beneath this huge ship where Marcus, in this instalment is joined by Dom, Cole, Anya and more surprisingly, Marcus’s father Adam!

The magazine states that Gears of War 3 has a lower frame-rate to compensate for better visuals and dynamic environments that include: Multi-layered shadows, wind and particle effects. Cliff Blesinski, supposedly said: “Instead of chasing after 60 fps we decided to make it look better, we think that’s a good choice. Also the levels change in real time.”

Epic also states that Gears of War 3 concludes Marcus Fenix’s trilogy, but plenty more Gears games are on the horizon, including prequels, spin-offs and “maybe even a transition to a new genre”.

Until the information from the magazine scans is printed in English, this news post is listed as a rumor.

Story has always been and will continue to be the weak link in this series. They tried to sell us on the story in the second but it fell flat.
Good thing the story doesn’t ruin the game.

Ah come on, ain’t it that bad, there is sure is shit far worse out there.

I love Gears for it’s campaigns - I hate Multiplayer, but I do enjoy the story.

Looking forward to this for next April

The story of gears is waht pulls u into the game and gameplay adds 2 that gear 1 was the best 1, in the multypaler aspect the story to both 1 and 2 great but the multiplayer in 2 was weak. the charachter lost their glow and where noticably smaller than the surroundings around them but only in the multyplayer da campaign was great…Flawless

GOW 3, Can’t wait, The campaign is going to be more badass and fun, Multiplayer should have 6 vs 6 or 8 vs 8 in all modes except for Horde and Beast
