Again, you ask? It certainly looks like it! Criterion Studios has just launched a countdown on its official website which ends right when EA’s E3 2010 press conference is to start on Monday at 22:00 GMT. But that’s not all!
A couple of renders have been leaked onto the web (which also appeared on the latest Gametrailers TV episode) showing what appears to be a part of the LA convention center’s show floor and since it’s adorned with Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit banners, we reckon it’s part of EA’s E3 booth. As you might recall, said title wasn’t listed among the announced line-up by the publisher a few days ago, leading us to believe it’s meant to be a big surprise. Sorry EA.
As for the game itself, all signs point to it being the long-awaited Criterion’s take on the Need for Speed franchise and it looks like they are reviving the Hot Pursuit subtitle. With as high pedigree with adrenaline-pumped arcade racers as Criterion, the reinvention is in good hands, no doubt about it.
That is if the renders turn out to be legit, of course. Therefore, until we get word from EA or Criterion, this will stay in the rumour bin.
Would you like to see a new Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit game?
