It’s been a year since Konami revealed Metal Gear Solid: Rising to the world, and until today gamers have essentially been none the wiser about what to expect from Raiden’s spin-off title. Luckily Hideo Kojima was on hand at Microsoft’s E3 conference armed with some much needed gameplay footage.

In case you failed to notice, slicing and dicing is the name of Raiden’s game. Zan-Datsu, a Japanese phrase that appears throughout the trailer, is key to what Rising is all about, translating as “to cut” and “to take” respectively. The Zan element is rather obvious, with Datsu likely being represented with Raiden’s utter annihilation and absorption of the patrolling mech and its energy. There’s not a whole lot of information in the footage, but it’s badass nonetheless.

No release date as of yet, but rest assured, Xboxic will keep you informed as details emerge.
