Black Ops Pre-Orders Outpacing Modern Warfare 2

Industry Gamers are reporting that pre-orders for this years Call of Duty instalment ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ has already exceeded those for ‘Modern Warfare 2′ in comparison.

Quoted by Industry Gamers:

Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson believes that Black Ops will sell 12 million copies, up from his previous estimate of 10 million. Wilson has spoken to his firm’s retail sources and has found that pre-orders for Black Ops are outpacing those of Modern Warfare 2.

Despite the current strong demand for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’, Wilson also predicted that overall long-term sales will not be as strong as ‘Modern Warfare 2′, blaming “competition, weaker marketing, and the Infinity Ward situation”.

‘Modern Warfare 2′ sold 16 Million copies during the fourth quarter of 2009, but ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ is estimated to sell 12 Million copies during the fourth quarter of 2010.

Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released worldwide on November 9th, 2010.

I’m not excited about Black Ops. For one there’s no way I’m buying it until it’s our for 6 months and see what the hacking situation is. MW2 is a hack fest online in public matches and IW/MS have done little to stop it. Why go back in time? I like the modern setting of MW2 I’m not really into playing a Vietnam era title.

Plus the fact Treyarch do seem to mess things up quite a fair bit. I might rent it instead.
