Call of Duty Map Packs Surpass 20 Million Units
Activision today announced that as at June 30th, 2010, the total sales of all map packs for the Call of Duty franchise have surpassed 20 million units. Call of Duty remains the number 1 best-selling first-person action franchise in the US and Europe, according to the NPD Group, Charttrack and GfK.

Quoted by Activision CEO, Robert Kotick:
“The Call of Duty franchise is unique in the world of entertainment and delivers one of the best multiplayer experiences ever,”
“We are thrilled to deliver to fans exciting and engaging content that has the intensity they have come to expect from the franchise.”
Activision began selling Map Packs for the Call of Duty franchise in 2006 for ‘Call of Duty 2′ on the Xbox 360, and has enjoyed continued success with the most recent game in the series ‘Modern Warfare 2′ which had Map Packs selling at the rate of over one million in just 24 hours.
No new Map Packs have been announced for Modern Warfare 2, but Activision’s newest Call of Duty title ‘Black Ops’ will be released worldwide on November 9th, 2010.

You would think with all the money they’ve made they would at least get the rock glitch on fuel fixed in a timely matter. They even released the PC/PS3 maps with the same glitch. Still having fun with MW2 but there’s no way I’m spending money on Black Ops to see the same glitching and hacking that MW2 has.
…but Black Ops is made by Treyarch, not the same team that did MW2. Usually in Treyarch games you fall under the maps for a few weeks before a patch
Yeah but they usually use IW’s code and engines in their games
They using the same P2P online game setup as MW2 on the 360 so I expect the same kind of hacks unless MS does some damage to online JTAGs with the dashboard update. MW2 will probably be great after BO is released all the kiddies will have moved on.
And its not MW2, its every DLC released for every Call of Duty, so thats about 10 seperate DLC that have sold 20 million units altogether.
Which is about 2 million sold for each DLC. Meh.
Call of Duty DLC didn’t become popular until Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. CoD 2, and CoD3 DLC were only on the Xbox360 and sold very little.
I know, they still sold some though, and CoD 5 and 6 makes up fot it, soooo. . . .
