Nipplegate continued: proof arrives and the fix
Okay we weren’t surprised when Eidos denied everything in our Nipplegate article. Even Gamespot put a “bogus” mark on the article. But we don’t like being called liars, and as such I set the challenge to deliver us the original textures from the game. Well…. here they are.
That’s the European PC version, released yesterday. I’m personally counting on a lot of people working 24/7 right now to get the US version out in time with nipple brushed out, just so they can deny the delay. Kudos to the first person to send us a screenshot of textures 437, 442 and 446 of the American version.

Hmm… I believe they said bogus to the “game being delayed” thing; not the nipple thing.
In other words, they believe the exposed breast is there, probably, but don’t believe the game is being delayed.
Essentially that means the story was not bogus, but they did remove the nipple and they may have the fix out in time.
Awesome! Now I can safely buy TR:L without worrying about nipples deeply hidden in my DVD image, thank you Eidos!

It’s already fixed in the 1.1, and you know what the release note’s where? “Fix some peformance problems on high end systems”

Maybe this is just a worldwide game by companies called “Zap the Nipple”. How long can you release a product with a hidden nipple in it before it gets found and “zapped”. Can anyone beat current reigning champion Rockstar? It’s anyone’s guess in this month’s installment of ZAP - THE - NiiiiiiiiiiPLE!
frankly i dont see what the uproar is all about. ok so theres a nipple….a…niiipple. we all have nipples. not many people can say they have not seen a nipple. its not like its preforming a nudity sex scene, or nor is it in a fashion of r-rated-”R”. but straight to the point im here to make is that its a “Nipple”. lmao this is bogus over a nipple. now if it was other gentials showing such as the waist and thigh area and i think you know where im going with this. thats a totally different aspect and view on this delima of nipples. but thats just my opinion.
To be honest I hadn’t expected more than a few referrers to the original article, doing like a few thousand hits at best. I thought it was funny news, not something shocking.

I have a question for you all, for I find the implicit censorship issues interesting, and I see where Europe stands on this one.
Let’s say that the game instead of the scene with the bare breasts had Lara Croft walk into a men nudity bar - it could be something like the Chipendales or even a gay bar. Now, would Europe have a fit if they showed make full frontal nudity and penises? Would you guys protest the same way or mock the government the same way you are mocking the US culture/gov?
I know in the US such a thing would be even worse than the breasts, for sure, but I would say I would find hypocritical for either side to protest on full front male nudity - and you guys would be if you find this objectionable since you are talking so much about the breast issue.
I just want to know where you guys would stand on this…
Here in the Netherlands the bar is usually set at primary reproductive organs, penis and vagina. Showing those openly without a really good reason would get you a 18+ rating. Breasts are generally acceptable, even in commercials at 8pm in the evening.
A while back there was even a TV commercial for a public radio with a wellknown male DJ completely naked for a split second. I laughed at it

Why in the hell make a story out of this. Don’t you have to hack the disc to even see the skin layer that shows her nipples? Get a life xboxic, this is a non-story.
The nipples are a non-story. That Eidos is trying like hell to remove them before anyone sees them is just so laughable that it’s a story. And well, the previous 100k viewers apparently considered it a story
I´m from Austria and i want to by the us version (because of the better packing). European versions (DE, UK) are availavle since April 6 th, US Version was announced for April 18 th. And now it´s gonan be delayed further. I don´t understand why in the 21st century a hidden nipple is a problem.
We might have to photoshop our own nipples in.

I don’t want to ruin your scoop friends, but I tend to believe Eidos.
To me their statement sounds like “no, the reason for the dealy was not caused by nipples in the game” and to be honest (and in the firingsqad article they say it’s not in the U.S. version and your extract is the from Euro), if I had an update scheduled anyway I’d too pixel out the image just to be on the safe side, since it wasn’t needed anyway, so that prooves nothing.
Just try to build a hypcritic scandal over the fact that Lara swears twice and you’ll probably see the text changed in the next updates too.
Well, just my two pennies worth, I wouldn’t even mind if there were XXX scenes in the game, so I’m definitely the wrong person to ask.

I have the U.S. Version (1.0) and it does have the nipple in it. I have screenshots.
This is texture of one female from Tokio level, model of that female is viewable in “extras” but after i have installed “EU only 1.1 patch” when i choosing that female in Extras menu my game crashing with error that module blah blah corrupted and need 2 be rebuild. So they not just killed nipple, they even kill that female in all game (i complete tokio before patch installation so possible that game may crash at start of that level)

I find nipple-less breast, or even photo’s of women (real or drawn) without nipples disturbing. I mean… why? Sure when you get your hands on a nipple irl, yeah that’s sexy.
