Datel’s new hard drive connector

Datel has manufactured a device you plug between your Xbox 360 and the harddrive that makes it possible to hook it up to your pc. With this you can make sure your harddrive doesn’t run out of space anymore. To copy the data you will need to make use of the program Xplorer360. To transfer the data the XSATA makes use of an USB2.0 connection so it should be pretty fast. The XSATA has some very nice blue laserlight (is there also an off-switch anyone).

For some reason I am still wondering if MS can detect this kind of devices and maybe even ban you for it on Xbox Live.

The XSATA can be bought at the codejunkies webshop for $39,99. Thnx Todd for the newssubmit.

Hmm. Too bad this device has to sit BETWEEN the HD and the Xbox 360… my computers are in another room and there’s really no way for a USB cable to run that far. A standalone HD dock with power supply and USB connection would be so much nicer.

Maybe Microsoft will add (as I have requested) the ability to transfer/copy/backup your 360’s files across a network to a Windows Media Center PC so we don’t need to use kludges (no matter how elegant) like this one.

I don’t need it, got tonnes of room left :)

don’t think MS can find out, because your xbox probaly doesn’t even see the thing is their, and just will think it’s sending data to it’s Harddrive, what it is doing ofcourse

yeah, most people dont even have there xbox system next to there computer, its in there living room, unless u want to be moving your xbox all the time or if u have a laptop, this is not the best idea, what the other guy said about being like a portable hardrive would be the best bet.

Haha. It is going to be messed up, by 2008 you will have burned up you’re computer’s hard drive and will have to pay big money to back it up and buy a new one… This is going to be a massive money rake in of computer hard drive makers such as: SATA & Datel…

Me I am going to stick to supporting Microsoft and will continue to buy $100.00 hard drive, and not burn out my 1 terabyte HDD.

HDD’s are cheap and you should be replacing them by then anyway… so STFU… ;)

The issue the first poster brought up is the same issue that I have. A lot of us have our PC in a different room than our 360 and it would be a pain to disconnect the system and move it to another room for backing up. It would have been nice if the Datel device had a wireless/ethernet interface that we could connect to. As for now, I am happy using the Datel USB/memory card accessory for my backing up.
