Sequels for True Crime and GUN possibly cancelled
Gamespot refers to an anonymous source with close ties to the Southern California game-development community for a rumor stating that neither GUN nor the True Crime series may ever see another sequel. Actual low sales figures seem to give some weight to the claim.
Neversoft’s GUN moved only 240.000 units in its first month spread over five platforms, and True Crime: New York City even only managed to get to 72.000 on its three platforms. Now publisher Activision has supposedly pulled the plug on both GUN 2 and TC3 even before any real development started.
Gamespot’s insights on the rumor? “True Crime: New York City probably won’t get a sequel, but Gun–which was considered promising but unpolished–might.”
