PS3 to retail for 399 dollar?
TeamXbox found some info in PlayStation magazine claiming that the PlayStation 3 is expected to sell for about $399 in the U.S., €322 in Europe and ¥45,965 in Japan. Additionally the console will launch with an upgradeable 60Gb harddrive, and PSO and PS2 games will run on the PlayStation 3 in 720, 1080i and 1080p.
Randy Nelson, Executive Editor of PSM, was quick on hand to clarify some stuff though:
Our story doesn’t specifically list any price as confirmed. On our piece, we write: “According to Sony, the price of the system ‘will not retail for under’ about $425 Japanese yen. Since game consoles are typically a little cheaper here in the U.S. than in Japan, it’s reasonable for us to expect to see a price tag of $399.”
So all it says is that it will not be cheaper than 399 dollar. It may still cost the expected 500 or 600 ofcourse.

i’ll probably pick one up after a while - but if 360 continues improving at its present rate i might not need another game system for a long time to come.
You know I get a royalty whenever you use that picture.
I’ve never needed another system (other than moving from XBox to XBox 360). The PS2’s graphics have always been total crap in my oppinion. The dithering is unbelievable, it nearly looks like it has only 256 colors and is dithering them to fake the rest.
And the other big killer was no 480p support. “Death to interlaced video!”, I say.
If its $399 then thats a mere £224 and I will pick one up for that price.
Im sorry but I still dount that it will sellf for less then $500
well have to wait and see
I still get an anger by PS2 due to its lie—- far Stronger than Dreamcast.
“It’s SONY”, Sony only play Marketing stuff while they only cheat the real gamers.
so this time I sitll hold any expectation from PS3.
