Halo 3 footage at E3?

Ah, so it’s been a while since we’ve posted a brooding Halo 3 rumor. Fret no more, as it appears fellow Xbox news website, IGN.com, has heard from a little birdie that Microsoft and Bungie are gearing up to unleash a two minute bundle of Halo 3 footage at E3 in May.

While this is no official announcement, IGN claims their independent sources have spoken with Microsoft executives and believe this rumor to be true. As usual, Microsoft representatives refuse to comment on speculation and rumors, so neither IGN or Xboxic were able to get any confirmation on this rumor. If it is true, this is indeed great news for those clamoring to see Halo 3. However, it is likely we will not know until it’s presented at the news conference on May 9th. We’re just over a week away.

Many different theories have begun floating around about the footage itself, wondering what it might or might not include. Some speculate we may see an entire two minute preview of in-game footage to battle Sony’s usage of CG videos at previous events. Perhaps the footage that is presented at the May 9th news conference might even include a level that we will never see in the final version of Halo 3?

This is about time that all these kind of rumours start floating around. IGN shouldn’t be fucking around with a huge title like this though, if they get it wrong, they’re going to look a bit silly.

Well actually the fact that it is IGN is the only reason I decided to run this article. I wouldn’t have trusted it from any other source save perhaps Microsoft or Bungie themselves. IGN does quintuple checks :)

Doesn’t matter how many checks you do, could still be faulse.

If you see how popular Halo 2 is over xbox live, they really should do “something” at the E3. I think a ingame movie will be waayy better than pre-rendered CGI movie, but that’s just me giving you my 2 cents.
lol @ image btw :P

I’m not going to be surprised if there is some halo3 news at E3, but it’s a big mistake. It’s going to completely steal the thunder of all other titles. They should be promoting Gear of War and Huxley as the must have games. btw did I mention IGN sucks? Cuz they do, they really do

You are right about it stealing the thunder, however you have to consider the Halo 3 hype’s potential to overshadow anything Nintendo and Sony related at E3. You can even expect console sales to increase thanks to the excitement of Halo 3. That game is a very powerful tool, and Microsoft knows this very well.

You’re definitely right about trying to overshadow other consoles. The thing is, Wii (god I hate that name) is the real competition from what I hear. From what I hear PS3 has no release date, and won’t be playable at e3

I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that. PS3 has been slated to be released in November and that is Xbox 360’s main competitor, by a long shot.

The Revo-er, Wii and Halo 3 will be battling out, Plasma Sword versus Master Sword this year. There will be some interest in MGS4 but I doubt Sony could really “OMG!” us anymore than Halo and Nintendo.

You have to expect SOMETHING at E3 regarding HALO 3… It’s not like the game isn’t in developement… It isn’t like there isn’t ANY part of the game that is finished enough to showcase. Why would MS blow the change to. create some buzz when this is E3 is a CRUCIAL moment for PS3… Not doing anything edgy would be retarded, and we know Microsoft has a few intelligent folks working in their marketing department (excluding the people who spear-headed the MTV special back in 2005 :-( And… either TRIGGER MAN is a PS3 fanboy.. or he is SUPER sensitive about his MASTER CHIEF… either way… CALM DOWN… go unload on IGN, Curry is just the messenger(p.s.- “FAULSE” ??

wow… looks like I could use a grammar / spelling class myself :-P Ah well, at least they are all real words

And I didn’t write the story but that’s mere details ;)

Nope. You would be wrong to call me a PS3 fanboy and yes, I openly admit I spelt false wrong, I was smoking and couldn’t see well, and I wasn’t having a go at Curry at all and you’re telling me to calm down? Anywho - Halo 3 might be there, and yes, it is a crucial moment for Sony, but MS shouldn’t just rely on one game to sell the Xbox 360.

I’d say the consumer is more hung up on Halo than MS… SO why would MS hold out on the masses. The xbox 360 is alrady selling like hot cakes thanks to games like GRAW & Oblivion, and as soon as killer apps like Gears of War & Too Human hit the market, people will be foaming at the mouth to get their hands on one. Couple this with the possibility of an xbox360 price drop shortly after the PS3 release, and you could consider Halo 3 just the cherry on top… Lets not even factor in the Wii… It’s already been stated that the console will be marginally more powerful than the original xbox, and I don’t know about you, but no amount of “Innovative” game play can make up for that handicap. The xbox360 is releasing the camera add-on shortly, with its 3d tracking technology. That alone could provide more innovated gameplay than a controller you have to wave around. And noting is stopping SONY or MS from releasing a controller that you have to wave around like an idiot (only god knows why they would want to). NINTENDO is definitely ice skating uphill this time around.

That was really too long of a comment for me to read anything other than the last sentence, but Nintendo is ice skating uphill with a JETPACK this time around. Wii’s gonna rock you (Wii will rock you), believe me.

And you can play Metroid Prime with your elbow never leaving your lap, for the record.

Wii will rock you.

That was darn cute.

Much appreciated but I can’t take the credit. Forget where I saw it, though…

So yeah, I’ll take the credit.

Yeah… Too much of a long essay, but I still read it. I totally see where you’re coming from, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

look at it this way ARCHA1C, if you are playing the whee and you get frustrated enought to throw your controller, it could trigger some kind of special move to win the game. now thats cool.

Could also smash the contoller.

I would notice what bungie said today in the update ”

Bungie Weekly Update

April 28th, 2006

I got to play whatever our next game is today. Paul Bertone was testing out some new AI stuff and I tooled around on two distinctly different levels, through two distinctly different encounters. One was set up purely for test, the other was a “real” level. I have to say, I had a blast.”

How can you say its official? It most certainly is not official. I wouldn’t trust any rumors as being ‘official’ this close to E3.

Yeah, I wanted to say that, but I thought I would get an onslaught from ARCHA1C, about how I’m a Sony Fanboy. I agree, it’s most definitely not official, still doesn’t meen that it will not appear at E3 though.

It will be there, in some form of media… E3 will not pass without mention of the next installment of the Halo series… That makes it official.

Expect some insight before next Friday… It’s not just IGN reporting Halo buzz. It’s just about every note worthy xbox 360 news site. I’m not even a big fan of the Halo series, but it is $$$$$$$$$$$ for MS

too sweet. this is gonna be great. good old Halo 3 finally to see. MSoft should be happy at how many people want to play this. And with the upcoming free games beta, they will be able to generate buzz and kill bugs at the same time. very niiicce.
