E3 2006: Wireless steering wheel for Xbox 360 announced

Forza Motorsports 2 is coming this fall and Microsoft decided to celebrate it with a nice piece of hardware to go along with it. A steering wheel. And since it’s the age of wireless-ness it’s a wireless steering wheel. Hurray! Photo’s after the jump.

The Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel uses the latest wireless and force feedback technology to bring new realism to racing games such as “Project Gotham Racing® 3” and “Forza Motorsport 2.” From drifting to power sliding, feel the intensity of every turn.

Forza Motorsports 2 and the steering wheel are scheduled for this fall.

No shifter and clutch pedal :(

Hmm. There does appear to be a shifter.

How do I link an image? Here’s the URL

And this is the page it appears on

LOL.. a CLUTCH PEDAL!? Have you ever had a “CLUTCH BUTTON” on your controller?? Let’s not be ridiculous and get super critical. It has paddle shifters, and that’s cool with me. Even if there was a clutch pedal When is the last time you heard of a console game incorporating clutch mechanics? Cmon, give them a little credit. WIreless is a nice touch. Especially for those of us with a theater setup, or the console above the TV.

logitech’s looks better and DOES have a clutch pedal.

Yeah but it’s supposed to have force feedback powered via a ac adapter.

hopefully there will be package deal!

/me wonders how it will be sitting in a fatboy orginal with this playing forza2/pgr3

Also it should be interesting to know if they use the same battery packs for it as the normal wireless controller.

Nothing for me,
the cheap ass looking non wireless Joytech steering wheel is in the shops for € 100,-, no way i’m paying that much money for a wheel!

I believe it will, I read that it would use battery packs from play and charge, or double a batteries.

also, the pedals are wired to the wheel, the unit itself is wireless from the 360.

this is junk, wireless or not, Logitech’s will be the one you want.

considering that nice wheel that the post is about is NOT for the 360… I’d rather have the ms wheel.

The logitech one at the bottom of that page is no better imo…

Have you seen the logitech one for the PC? It’s $300.00, but the thing is out of this world. It has a clutch on the footpedal portion of the setup. It also has a third piece (seperate from the steering wheel and footpedals) that has the clutch on it along with several buttons that can be mapped to suit your needs. That setup is just awesome. My wife said I can have it if I buy her a TV and XBOX 360 of her own……….sigh.

Oops, type previous post. The third piece has the shifter on it, not the clutch. My bad.
