E3 2006: Ubisoft & Free Radical announce Haze

After doing 3 versions of Timesplitters, Free Radical decided it was time to move on to the next generation. Today they’ve announced that they are currently working on a next-gen FPS called Haze, published by Ubisoft. Free Radical is famous for making 3 excellent console FPS titles with Timesplitters and we are all very excited about Haze. Haze is scheduled for an early 2007 release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Haze FTW!

Twenty-five years in the future. Governments have outsourced military operations to private multinational corporations. As Jake Carpenter, a newly enlisted soldier in the Mantel army, you are seeking fulfillment and thrills by fighting for a good cause.

Thanks to their high-tech arsenal of vehicles, deadly weaponry, and performance enhancing bio-medical support, the Mantel Corporation’s ruthlessly efficient soldiers are the most feared by terrorists, dictators, and the corporation’s political enemies.

Your conflict begins in a war-torn country in South America, where you have been sent to fight a vicious rebel faction, The Promise Hand. At first glance, all is well, but things quickly begin to look a little strange…

Although the link is in the screenshots, the official website isn’t online yet so head over to Xboxyde instead for the Haze E3 trailer. Look for Haze in stores in early 2007 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

I’ve been hearing about this one… sounds, and looks sick. I love Ubisoft

Ubisoft are one of the best publishers at this point in time. They don’t churn out yearly shit, like some othEr big compAny…

I liked this game when it was called Far Cry Ubisoft, thanks

Well, I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s just like Far Cry. It does look like it revolves more about military opposed to the lone warrior [Jack Carver] from Far Cry.
But, saying that - Far Cry (original) was a brilliant game, to say the least.
Hope this can top-trump that…

Nino: The site is up and running.

free radical makes AMAZING fps games, no idea why people wouldn’t be excited for this one.

Yeah, definitely no reason to sell yourselves short just because it’s a FPS. I’m giving every game a shot. Look at how different Far Cry, Halo, Half Life 2, and FEAR are… They all have a very different feel are are all worth a play. Just because you have a gun, and it’s in first person view, doesn’t mean “Same old sh*t”
